Netherlands Queen meets President

During the meeting, the President highlighted the success of Bangladesh in poverty alleviation through micro credit, his press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB.
Queen Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti praised the micro-credit activities in Bangladesh and said its success in alleviating poverty through micro credit is praiseworthy.
Abdul Hamid also apprised the Queen, also the UN Secretary General's special advocate for inclusive Finance for development, of the role of RMG sector in empowering country's women.
The Queen was apprised of the government's steps for empowering women of the country and hoped that the success will be continued in the future.
Mentioning the negative impact of climate change in Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid informed her about the government's initiatives to mitigate the problems caused by climate change.
The President also highlighted the steps taken by Bangladesh to implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The Bangladesh President hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and the Netherlands would be strengthened further in the future through the visit.
Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Leoni Cuelenaere, UN resident coordinator Robert Watkins, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman and secretaries concerned to the President Office, among others, were present.
