Dhaka, Oct 17 (UNB) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file two cases against former chief engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) M Shahidul Alam for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth.
The Commission at its regular meeting recently decided to file the cases against him, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Earlier, the national anti-graft agency received an allegation that Shahidul Alam acquired unusual wealth through illegal means when he worked at the BPDB.
Taking the allegation into consideration, the Commission launched a probe against him and asked him to submit his wealth report before it.
Responding to the ACC’s directive, he submitted his wealth statement to the Commission.
Examining the wealth statement during its probe, the Commission found that acquired illegal wealth worth Tk 3.75 crore.
Pranab said ACC deputy director Akhter Hamid Bhuiyan will soon file the case against him.
