Dhaka, May 12 (UNB) - The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and 119th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on Saturday at the chancery.
The event started with singing of the national anthem and national march song.
Bangladesh Ambassador in Seoul Abida Islam highlighted the contributions and similarities of both the poets in a wide range of areas.
She also mentioned that both their songs and poems inspired our freedom fighters during the War of Liberation in 1971.
The Ambassador said both the poets accorded topmost priority to humanity through their creative works, said a press release.
After the speech, a colourful cultural performance was arranged with the participation of the Embassy family and expatriate Bangladeshis.
The performance had dance, poetry recitation songs and instrumental composed by these two great poets.
The performance of Korean artist Lee Young Suk added a different dimension in the programme.
After the cultural program, the guests were served with Bangladeshi traditional food items.
