Chuadanga, Dec 7 (UNB) – Elaborate programmes were chalked out in the district on Thursday marking 7th December, the day when Chuadanga was freed from Pakistani occupation forces during the Liberation War in 1971.
District administration and district unit of Muktijoddha Sangsad have arranged a colourful procession marking the day.
Ziauddin Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Chuadanga, led the procession that started parading from DC office in the morning.
To mark the day, another procession was bought out by freedom fighters of the district. After parading different important roads of the district, the procession ended at Zila Shilpakala Academy.
On this day in 1971, after face-to-face armed combat between freedom fighters and Pakistani army who entered here from Jessore Cantonment at Munishiganj Bazar in Alamdanga upazila, Pak forces were ousted from Chauadanga.
While they were retreating to Kushtia, the Pak army charged bombs and demolished different important establishments.
