Dhaka, May 16 (UNB)- Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has taken up a crush programme to prevent spread of Aedes mosquito, carrier of dengue and Chikungunya, in this monsoon.
Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Wednesday told journalists that under the crush programme, a special inspection team, comprising DSCC officials and local volunteers, would be formed in each of its 57 Wards to inspect every household to find out larva of Aedes mosquito.
DSCC Mayor was briefing reporters at the Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday marking completion of his three years as the Mayor.
The teams will start visiting houses from next week to identify breeding grounds and mosquito larva, he said and adding that the teams will destroy identified breeding grounds and larva using fogging and larviciding machines, aiming to prevent spread of the Aedes mosquito in the city.
“We want to ensure Aedes mosquito does not spread in this monsoon,” the DSCC Mayor said.
He sought cooperation from the city dwellers to prevent spread of Aedes mosquito.
