Dhaka, Jan 3 (UNB) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, celebrates its 46th founding anniversary on Thursday by adding a new Boeing to its fleet.
According to a press statement, Biman will enter a new era with the induction of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner as the 14th member of its fleet.
The newest entrant into the Biman fleet is part of the new generation of aircraft that will provide its passengers with wifi service at a height of 43,000 feet, allowing passengers to browse the internet or connect with their friends and family at any end of the world.
The aircraft will also have in-flight entertainment system through which passengers will be able to enjoy classics or blockbuster movies, music of different genres, and video games and livestreaming of nine world famous television channels. It will also provide facilities for online shopping, with credit card or cash payment allowed on the on-board duty free shop.
The Boeing 787-8, designed to be 20 percent fuel efficient, has a total of 271 seats with 24 in business class and 247 in economy class.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Biman, A M Mosaddique Ahmed expressed his hope to spread its wings to new destinations as well as adding two more Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners in 2018.
Biman is taking initiatives to spread its network to Guangzhou in China, Colombo in Srilanka and Male of Maldives this year, he added.
On the occasion of its 46th founding anniversary, Biman has scheduled various programs including staff meetings at the headquarter Balaka, cutting cake and providing complimentary gifts to the passengers of all flights flying from Dhaka to abroad.
