Present JS activities objectively, Speaker urges journos

Dhaka, Dec 7 (UNB) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday urged the media people to objectively present parliamentary activities before people in order to further strengthen the country’s democracy.
She made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest at the15th founding anniversary of Dhaka Sub-Editors Council (DSEC) at the Jaitya Press Club auditorium.
Noting that democracy and media are complementary to each other, the Speaker said journalists need to acquire special knowledge and skills to ensure that objective reports are produced.
She also acknowledged that journalism faces more challenges alongside its diversity with the advancement of information and technology.
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury underscored the need for engagement of more women as reporters and sub-editors in the field of journalism.
Prime Minister’s information affairs adviser and the Daily Observer editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Jatiya Press Club president Md Shafiqur Rahman and Rangpur City Corporation mayor Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, among others, spoke at the programme with DSEC president Nasima Akter Shoma in the chair.
