WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022: H2H Comparison, Fixtures, Venues
Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies will end with a 3-match WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022. There is no denying the fact that the ODI is Bangladesh’s favourite format. The expectations will be high from the Tiger’s campaign to seal the One-Day International series. The West Indian side is in good form at the moment, and that’s why the Tamim Iqbal-led team needs to find a way to come out on top against the Caribbean side. The recent ODI record between the two teams also favours Bangladesh. Let’s take a look at the head-to-head record and the complete fixtures of the BAN vs WI ODI Series 2022.
Bangladesh vs West Indies: Head-to-Head ODI Stats
The Bangladesh national team first met the West Indies in the 1999 ODI Cricket World Cup, in which they lost the contest by 7 wickets. Bangladesh had to wait 10 years and 14 matches to clinch their first ever ODI win over the Windies. The Tigers registered their first ODI victory over the Caribbean side in 2009 at Windsor Park in the first of a 3-match series. Bangladesh eventually whitewashed the Windies 3-0 in the series.
Overall, both sides have met 41 times in the ODI format, with the West Indies leading the head-to-head contest with 21 victories. Bangladesh have won 18 matches and two matches had no results. Besides, both teams have won five bilateral series against each other. Let’s take a look at some notable One-Day International records between West Indies and Bangladesh.

Bottom Line
Bangladesh’s most desired cricket format is ODI. They seem to know how to succeed in limited-overs cricket against any opposition in the world. Team Tigers' recent performance in the one-day format has been excellent. Therefore, Bangladesh players will likely do much better in the limited-overs series, despite the fact that they haven't been able to play to their full potential in the other two formats against the West Indian team on this trip. On the other side, West Indies will be aiming to maintain their recent success in the WI vs BAN ODI Series 2022.
BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022: Shakib Al Hasan Reaches Historic Landmark
Bangladesh lost the second match of the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022 at Windsor Park, Dominica on Sunday (July 3). The West Indies have taken a 1-0 lead with this victory and they will clinch the series if they win the 3rd match at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday (July 7). Except for Shakib Al Hasan’s historic landmark, Bangladesh had no mentionable achievement in this contest. How the Bangladesh team fared in the second match and Shakib Al Hasan’s new milestone are discussed in this article.
Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd T20I: Match Report
On Sunday, Windsor Park hosted its first international match since the stadium was renovated following hurricane Maria damage in 2017. Before that, only two T20I matches were held at this venue and both were low-scoring affairs. Therefore, predicting how the pitch would behave during the contest was difficult.
However, the curator was determined to build a fresh wicket which would assist the batters to score runs. The effort to make a batting-friendly wicket was successful as more than 350 runs were scored during the contest.

Bangladesh had to chase 194 set by the Windies to clinch the contest. They were practically down and out in the run chase when 3 wickets were down at 23 in 3 overs. Shakib and Afif then tried to repair the innings with a 55-run stand between them on the fourth wicket. Afif Hossain played a 34-run knock before losing his wicket to Romario Shepherd. But by then Bangladesh already played 10.2 overs and they required 116 runs in 58 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
It was a testing time for the power hitters of Bangladesh to see whether they were capable enough to pull off such a target by maintaining a 200 strike rate. Expectedly, all the hitters failed big time in the contest, and Bangladesh finished their innings on 158/6. Among the power hitters, Nurul Hasan contributed 7 off 13, Mosaddek Hossain made 15 off 11 and Mahedi Hasan remained unbeaten with 5* off 2.
Shakib Al Hasan remained with 68* off 52 balls and became the second Bangladeshi batter after Mahmudullah Riyad to score 2,000 T20I runs.

Earlier, West Indies scored 193/5 in their allotted 20 overs after opting to bat first. Opener Brandon King played a 57-run knock and made an important 74-run stand with captain Nicholas Pooran (34) for the third wicket. Later, Rovman Powell’s whirlwind 61 off 28 balls knock guided the Windies to score close to 200 in their innings. Pacer Shoriful Islam picked up the highest 2 wickets for Bangladesh.
The first cricketer to amass 2000 runs and 100 wickets in T20I format
Shakib Al Hasan performed consistently despite Bangladesh's underwhelming effort in the second game of the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. He took a wicket and scored a half-century with the bat.
Shakib completed his 2,000 T20I runs in the match and became the first player in history to amass 2k runs and snatch 100 wickets in the format. This is such a unique feat by the ace all-rounder. Only Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafez has 2,000 runs and 50 wickets in the T20 format. Let’s take a look at the seven players with a minimum of 1,000 runs and 50 T20I wickets.

Aftermath
The Bangladesh team’s overall performance in the second match of the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022 wasn’t convincing. They couldn’t create a winning situation in any moment of the contest as the Windies deservedly won the game with a complete domination. Bangladesh’s approach should be more aggressive in the third match in order to tie this Twenty20 series.
As for Shakib Al Hasan, the match was a historic occasion for the ace all-rounder. Shakib adds to his legacy by becoming the first cricketer in T20I history to score 2000 runs and take 100 wickets.

West Indies lead in T20I series with easy win
After the first match of the three-match T20I series is washed away, West Indies registered an easy win in the second match against Bangladesh in Dominica.
Rovman Powell hit two fours and six sixes in a 28-ball 61 not out as West Indies’ 193 for 5 proved too much for Bangladesh to chase down on Sunday. The hosts batted first after winning the toss.
Bangladesh scored 158 for 6 in reply as West Indies won by a comfortable 35 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Opener Brandon King scored 57 runs in 43 deliveries and captain Nicholas Pooran hit a 30-ball 34 after West Indies chose to bat first.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam took 2 for 40 in four overs. The other left-arm premium pacer of Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman, failed to take any wicket despite conceding 37 runs in four overs. Taskin Ahmed, the right-arm pacer, also had a bad day at office— he conceded 46 in three overs but failed to take any wicket.
Bangladesh recovered from 23 for 3 as Shakib Al Hasan top-scored for the visitors with an undefeated 68 off 52 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes. It was the highest score of the match.
Afif Hossain, the left-handed batter, scored 34 of 27 deliveries with three fours and one six. Mosaddek Hossain was the other Bangladeshi batter to have scored a double-digit total. He made 15.
Pacer Romario Shepherd finished with 2-28 in four overs.
The first T20I on Saturday was a washout. Bangladesh reached 105 for 8 in 13 overs with the match already having been reduced to 14 overs per side. That game was the first cricket international at Windsor Park since it was rebuilt after being severely damaged in 2017 by a hurricane.
The third and last T20I is scheduled for Thursday in Providence, Guyana, followed by a three-match ODI series.

West Indies swept the two-match Test series against Bangladesh where the Bangladeshi batters failed to impress. However, bowlers, especially Khaled Ahmed did well. The pacer bagged 10 wickets in two Tests with a five-wicket haul.
Wimbledon wild-card entry steals set, not win, from Djokovic
Even knowing what an unusual Wimbledon this has been, what with so many unexpected results and new faces popping up, and so few top seeds — and major champions — remaining, surely Novak Djokovic would not lose to a wild-card entry making his Grand Slam debut, would he?
If it did not quite seem plausible, it did at least become vaguely possible a tad past 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night under the closed roof at Centre Court, when 25-year-old Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven — ranking: 104th; lifetime tour-level victories: eight, all in the past month — had the temerity to smack a 133 mph ace past Djokovic and tie their fourth-round match at a set apiece.
All of nine minutes later, the time it took Djokovic to grab 12 of the next 15 points, and the next three games, both plausibility and possibility took a hike. Soon enough, the third set was his, and not much later, so was the fourth, and the match, a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 result that gave the tournament's No. 1 seed a 25th consecutive grass-court victory at the All England Club and a place in his 13th Wimbledon quarterfinal.
Read: Djokovic playing his ‘best’ tennis ahead of French Open
“Novak did his Novak thing,” van Rijthoven said, “and played very, very well. He had all the answers.”
Beforehand, van Rijthoven had said: “I’ll go into that match thinking I can win.” Might have still had that sense Sunday evening. If only briefly.
Eventually, the only true question was whether Djokovic would wrap this one up in time, because there is an 11 p.m. curfew. Running up against that would have required them to resume Monday.
“Whew. I am lucky,” Djokovic said after closing the deal with 20 minutes to spare. “It's never really pleasant if you can't finish the match in the same day. Glad I did.”
They did not begin playing until 8 p.m., in part due to a delay of roughly an hour at the start of this special afternoon — the first time in history the tournament's middle Sunday held scheduled play — while a ceremony was held to honor the 100 years of Centre Court.
Djokovic, who questioned after his victory why matches generally begin so late in the main stadium, was among the many past champions who took part, joking to the crowd when it was his turn to speak, “Gosh, I feel more nervous than when I’m playing.”
If he was, indeed, jittery at all at a set apiece many hours later against van Rijthoven, it certainly did not show. Didn't matter that van Rijthoven kept cranking out huge serves, to the tune of 20 aces, including a pair on second serves. Didn't matter just how big the cuts were that van Rijthoven took with his forehands. Didn't matter that the spectators, who love an underdog, were getting louder and louder as the second set came to a close. Didn't matter that Djokovic stumbled behind what he called a "slippery" baseline twice, landing first on his backside, later on his left knee and stomach.
“He was on a streak on this surface, and I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. With that serve and a lot of talent, great touch, powerful forehand, he can do a lot of damage,” Djokovic said. “It took me a little bit of time to get used to his pace.”
Djokovic, a 35-year-old from Serbia, calibrated his best-in-the-game returns, got his groundstrokes in fine form — finishing with just 19 unforced errors, compared to 29 winners — and was in complete control, a step closer to all manner of important numbers. His pursuit of a fourth consecutive, and seventh overall, title at Wimbledon, not to mention a 21st major championship, will continue Tuesday against No. 10 seed Jannik Sinner of Italy.
Sinner reached his first quarterfinal at the All England Club by eliminating No. 5 Carlos Alcaraz 6-1, 6-4, 6-7 (8), 6-3 earlier.
Read:Djokovic heads for Belgrade after deportation from Australia
The other quarterfinal on their half of the bracket will be No. 9 Cam Norrie of Britain against unseeded David Goffin of Belgium. They each advanced by beating Americans: Norrie beat No. 30 Tommy Paul 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 to get to his first major quarterfinal, and Goffin edged No. 23 Frances Tiafoe 7-6 (3), 5-7, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 over more than 4 1/2 hours.
The rest of the fourth round is Monday, and the only men left in the field who ever have participated in a Grand Slam final are Djokovic and 22-time major champion Rafael Nadal. They are also the only men still around ranked in the top 10.
It's a similarly unfamiliar collection of players chasing the women's championship, with just one who has appeared in a Grand Slam final (two-time major title winner Simona Halep, who plays Monday) and just two who were among the top 15 seeds at Wimbledon (No. 3 Ons Jabeur and No. 4 Paula Badosa, who plays Monday).
Jabeur made it to the quarterfinals at the All England Club for the second year in a row with a 7-6 (9), 6-4 victory against No. 24 Elise Mertens of Belgium. The other women moving on Sunday are unseeded and in unfamiliar territory, never having been in any major quarterfinal.
Jabeur next plays Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic, while Tatjana Maria, 34, and Jule Niemeier, 22, will meet in an all-German quarterfinal.
Bouzkova topped Caroline Garcia 7-5, 6-2, Maria defeated 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 after erasing two match points, and Niemeier beat Heather Watson 6-2, 6-4.
“There’s no reason ... not to keep this going," said Bouzkova, who pulled out of the French Open in May after testing positive for COVID-19 before her second-round match. "Kind of believing in myself right now.”
There's been a lot of that going around at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic put an end to such thoughts for van Rijthoven.

Summer footballer transfer window 2022: 5 big moves can happen before deadline
European football clubs are busy strengthening their squads in the summer football transfer window 2022. The hierarchy of the big clubs have splashed money to bring their desired players into the squads in order to be more competitive for the next season. On the other hand, some players are keen to part ways with their current clubs in order to take a new step in their careers. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, Robert Lewandowski, Paulo Dybala, and Frenkie de Jong are all in the market for a move. Let’s take a look at the situations of these players in the transfer market.
5 superstar footballers who could move in the 2022 summer football transfer window
With players like Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, the summer football transfer window 2022 has already seen some significant movements. More exciting deals will probably be witnessed during the next two months before the transfer deadline on September 1. The transfer market is now buzzing with speculation about what Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Robert Lewandowski, Paulo Dybala, and Frenkie de Jong will do next.
Cristiano Ronaldo
According to reports, the sensational Portuguese player of Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially asked to leave the club this summer. There is no secret that Ronaldo wants to play Champions League football and he can’t take part in the European club competition if he stays at Manchester United next season. Manchester United hierarchy has already informed Cristiano that he is not up for sale and insists that they want him to honor the final year of his contract.
Read FIFA to use new high-tech for offside calls at World Cup
If Ronaldo does leave, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Napoli are among the clubs vying for his services, according to multiple sources. However, given Ronaldo's current age (37), he will find it difficult to join any major European club.
Neymar Jr
Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offload Neymar Jr. this summer as they seek new direction under the leadership of new football adviser Luis Campos. Neymar is not part of Campos's plan, so PSG are keen to sell the Brazilian superstar, who they bought for a record price from Barcelona back in 2017.
Only a handful of clubs can afford Neymar’s wage, but his unprofessional behavior could be a stumbling block for any big club considering any such move. Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that Neymar triggered the contract clause which will see him stay at PSG till 2027. This will certainly make Neymar’s transfer even more difficult. His options for loan destinations include FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester City, and possibly Manchester United. However, anything could happen regarding Neymar’s transfer before the deadline day.
Read Inter signs Mkhitaryan and Onana in busy few days
Robert Lewandowski
Bayern Munich’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski wants to move away from his current club and seek a new challenge. Lewandowski’s preferred destination is FC Barcelona, but given the current financial situation of the Spanish club, any such move is not as simple as it was a few years ago. They have to spend 50 million euros or more to lure him to Camp Nou.
Lewandowski has other options if Barcelona fails to sign him this summer. Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG, and the giants of Italy will be happy to have his service.
Paulo Dybala
The Argentine attacking midfielder Paulo Dybala has parted ways with Juventus after failing to reach an agreement with the club regarding salary. Dybala wants to earn more money, but the Turin-based club didn’t want to pay the sum he wanted. Inter Milan could be a possible destination for Dybala. However, Dybala has to wait a little longer as Inter need to offload either Edin Dzeko or Alexis Sanchez to make way for Paulo.
Read FIFA to put more World Cup tickets up for online sale
Besides, they also have to reach an agreement with Dybala on his salary demand. If Inter misses out on signing Dybala, then the Argentine has to search for a new club. Inter’s rival AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, and some English and Spanish clubs are interested in him.
Frenkie de Jong
Barcelona’s defensive midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, doesn’t want to leave the club as he prefers to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. However, Barcelona want to sell the talented midfielder as they want to raise money to buy Lewandowski. Manchester United’s current manager, Eric ten Hag, is a big admirer of Frenkie de Jong and wants to bring him to Old Trafford.
Though it could be a move against the players' wishes. As per the latest report, Barcelona's president isn’t really keen on selling the Dutchman. This trade may take place prior to the deadline day if Manchester United make a strong bid for Frenkie.

Bottom Line
As per the latest updates, Barcelona’s talented Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong is most likely to move to Manchester United in the summer football transfer window 2022. The current financial situation of FC Barcelona has forced them to think about selling Frankie to the English club. Besides, Barcelona need a world-class forward and they can use de Jong’s transfer money to bring Lewandowski to Camp Nou.
Argentina’s Paulo Dybala’s likely destination could be either Inter Milan or AC Milan. PSG want to sell Neymar Jr, but his huge wage could potentially block the transfer. Besides, it wouldn't be as simple to fulfill Cristiano Ronaldo's ambition to join a team that would compete in the Champions League next season as it was a few years ago.

ENG vs IND 2022: Bumrah breaks record as India dominate 5th Test
India have shown an invigorated performance under the leadership of pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the ENG vs IND 2022 fifth Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India are 332 runs ahead of England in the first innings, as the hosts have made 84/5 at the end of day 2. The second day was a nightmare for English pacer Stuart Broad as he conceded 35 runs in an over and became the holder of the costliest over ever in the Test format. India’s captain Jasprit Bumrah ran riot over Stuart Broad in that particular over, who also became the highest scorer (31) for any debutant captain batting at no.10. The fifth match scenario is discussed in this article.
England vs India fifth Test: The match scenario
English captain Ben Stokes opted to field first after winning the toss in the ENG vs IND 2022 fifth Test. India’s regular Test captain, Rohit Sharma, has been unable to participate because of COVID-19 positive syndrome. In place of him, the team management handed over the captaincy to Jasprit Bumrah. Shubman Gill replaced Rohit and opened the innings with the experienced Cheteshwar Pujara.
England’s plan to put pressure on India’s batting line-up early in the innings materialized as they picked up five wickets for only 98 runs. However, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket discarded England’s early good work and put pressure on the home team bowlers. Pant made a swashbuckling effort with the bat by scoring 146 runs in just 111 deliveries, which included 4 sixes and 19 boundaries. Jadeja, on the other hand, scored 104 runs.

England were hoping to wrap up India’s first innings after Joe Root broke the partnership in the third session of day 1. However, captain Jasprit Bumrah’s quick-fire 31 off 16 guided India to score 416 in the first innings. Veteran James Anderson showed yet another master-class performance with the ball as he picked up five wickets in the innings.
In reply, England had a terrible start to their innings, losing 5 wickets and making 84 runs at the end of day 2. Jonny Bairstow (12) and captain Ben Stokes remained unbeaten at the crease. England will be hoping these two batsmen continue to develop a strong stand in the middle and stay firm in the contest. Skipper Jasprit Bumrah had a brilliant spell on day 2 as he picked up three wickets for India.
A look back at the most expensive overs in Test cricket
One of the major highlights of day 2 was Stuart Broad’s one embarrassing over to Jasprit Bumrah. It was the 84th over of India’s first innings and the bowler was Stuart Broad. Bumrah took on the English legend and hammered 29 runs with the bat. Six more runs were also scored thanks to extras. Overall, 35 runs were scored, which was the most expensive over in Test cricket history.

The previous record-holders for the most runs scored with the bat in an over were Brian Lara in 2003 and Bailey in 2013, both of whom scored 28 runs in an over. Bumrah set a new record for himself by scoring 29 runs. Jasprit Bumrah finished his innings with an undefeated 31* and became the debutant skipper with the most runs while batting at 10.

India are in a strong position in the ENG vs IND 2022 fifth Test in Birmingham. The visiting side will put the host team under more pressure if they can bowl them out as early as possible on day 3 and force them to follow on. On the other hand, England need a big partnership between captain Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow for the sixth wicket in order to make a strong comeback in the contest.

The toss was delayed by more than an hour due to the rain. The hosts won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first under the overcast condition. Due to the rain, the match was reduced to a 16-over game.

Bangladesh got a new opening pair in this match in Anamul Haque and Munim Shahriar. But they failed to impress. Munim fell victim to Akeal Hosein off the third ball of the innings scoring only two runs.
Bangladeshi batters took too many risks aiming to score faster and pose a challenging total to the hosts. But the strategy didn't work well as the tourists lost quick wickets regularly.
They were down to 77 for seven from 36 for one. Apart from Anamul (16), Shakib Al Hasan (29) and Nurul Hasan Sohan (25), none was able to reach a double-digit total against the quality bowling attack of the hosts.
All off Liton Das (9 off 14), captain Mahmudullah Riyad (8 off 13) and Afif Hossain (0 off 2) have failed to settle in the wicket.
The rain turned heavier after Bangladesh scored 105 for eight in 13 overs, and the umpires called the match off.
