The entire capital is already in the throes of a tight security net maintained by DMP in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the National Mourning Day program is observed with proper dignity in a secure environment, as numerous political organizations are expected to arrange discussion meets, feed the destitute and arrange Dua Mahfil.
DMP Commissioner Md Ashaduzzaman Mia briefed journalists on his force’s preparations at Road 32 on Wednesday.
On this day people of different classes, professionals will pay homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at the museum with flowers on August 15.
"The Bangabandhu Museum and Banani Graveyard will be completely under CCTV and both venues will be swept by the DMP’s Dog Squad," he said.
Every person who comes to pay homage at the Bangabandhu portrait, will be allowed to enter the gate after being searched to ensure security. Similarly, there will also be archways, checkposts at the Banani cemetery and all will be searched at the gate. The DMP Commissioner particularly requested the people’s cooperation in this regard.
After paying their own tribute, the DMP Commissioner asked everyone to be considerate and make an opportunity for others to do the same by leaving the museum premises as quickly as possible.
Senior officials of the DMP were present during Commissioner’s briefing.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with most of his family members, was assassinated brutally by a cabal of disgruntled military men on August 15, 1975.
Whenever the Awami League has been in government, the day has been commemorated with state sanction as National Mourning Day.
