He said it was important to launch a Greek residential mission in Dhaka to harness this potential, his Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters. The President hoped that the Greek government would soon take positive steps in this regard.
President Hamid welcomed Greece's newly-appointed non-resident Ambassador to Bangladesh Dinoyssios Kyvetos who presented his credentials at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
The President said the people of Bangladesh are very much interested in learning about the ancient Greek civilisation and the traditions and culture of Greece.
He said that many expatriate Bangladeshis are working in Greece and playing an important role in the economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Secretary to the President's Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Joynal Abedin, Secretary (attached) Md Wahidul Islam Khan and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen were also present at the meeting.
