Kishoreganj, Sept 12 (UNB) - Police on Wednesday pressed charges against five alleged JMB men over the militant attack near Sholakia Eidgah in 2016 that left four people dead.
Inspector (Investigation) of Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station Arifur Rahman submitted a charge-sheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in the afternoon, said Mashruf Rahman, superintendent of Kishorganj Police at a press briefing.
Those charge-sheeted are Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, 60, Anwar Hossain, 33, Abdus Sabur Khan alias Sohel Mahmud, 33, Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, 32, and Jahidul Haque Tanim, 24. All of them are now behind the bars.
The SP said police found the involvement of 24 JMB militants in the attack but made five of them accused as rest 19 were killed during raids.
On July 7, 2016, the Eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked a temporary police check-post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila.
