Sylhet, Sept 22 (UNB) – Worried about their lives following the detention of a colleague by ‘plainclothes police’, a total of 56 journalists filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station on Sunday seeking security.
All the journalists are working at different electronic media houses and members of Sylhet Electronic Media Journalists’ Association (EMJA).
According to their GD, a group of plainclothes men picked Moinul Haque Bulbul, former president EMJA and senior correspondent of NTV, up from Women Medical College Hospital around 10pm on September 19.
Although different law enforcement agencies were contacted, no one of them could provide any information about the whereabouts of Bulbul. After two hours, Kanaighat police said they arrested Bulbul, said EMJA President Bappa Ghosh Chowdhury.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Selim Mia said they were investigating the matter.
Bulbul was shown arrested in a case filed with Kanaighat Police Station.
He, however, secured bail from a court the following day.
