Jashore, Sept 4 (UNB) – Jhikargachha Upazila Parishad Chairman Sabira Nazmul Munni has been dismissed from her post after being convicted in a graft case.
Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives issued a letter in this regard, said Jahidul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer of Jhikargachha.
“The letter was forwarded to the concerned department on Monday,” he added.
The notification signed by Deputy Secretary Anjuman Ara said Munni has been removed from the post as a Dhaka court sentenced her to six years in jail for providing false information and amassing illegal wealth.
The notification, however, said that Nahida Akhter, vice chairman (panel chairman-1) will be given the charges of UZ chairman.
On July 12, a Dhaka court sentenced her to six years imprisonment in a graft case.
Later, she surrendered before the court and was granted bail.
