Rajshahi, Sept 7 (UNB) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Thursday night arrested a man along with huge counterfeit Indian currency notes which were illegally produced at his house in Beldapara area in the city.
The elite force members also seized several currency-making machines and other equipment, said Aman Ullah, officer-in-charge of Bualia Police Station.
A special team of Rab-2 from Dhaka conducted the drive and arrested the house owner Daroduzzaman Biswas alias Zaman, 57, son of Rahidul Islam, hailing from Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
Later on Friday morning, a local court sent him to jail, said the OC.
Zaman, well known as the mastermind for fake Indian currency producer and trader, was accused in three cases.
The accused was enlisted as the ‘most wanted’ by the security forces for trading counterfeit Indian currencies through India-Bangladesh border.
