Bangladesh Navy on Thursday rescued five fishermen who had been stranded in the deep sea for the last three days after their boat’s engine malfunctioned.
Assistant Director of Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Rashedul Alam Khan said the fishermen went to deep sea for fishing and the engine of their boat broke down at one stage.
On Thursday, naval ship “BNS Sagar” noticed the boat while patrolling the sea and rescued the fishermen, he said, adding that they were immediately given first-aid and food.
The fishermen were identified as Md Yeasin, 18, Omar Faruque, 16, Mattul Hossain, 15, Ansarul Islam, 15, and Nazim Uddin.
All of them are residents of Cox’s Bazar’s Moheshkhali upazila. They were handed over to the boat owner, said Rashedul.
