President Abdul Hamid has greeted the Bangladesh U-19 Cricket Team for clinching the ICC U-19 World Cup title beating India in a nail-biting final on Sunday.
In a congratulatory message, the President extended his congratulations to the U-19 players, coaching staff and the team management for the feat.
He also expressed the hope that the young players will bring greater laurels for the country in the future. “It’ll also play a positive role in developing cricket in the country,” he said.
The Junior Tigers beat India by three wickets in the final at Potchefstroom in South Africa on Sunday.
Chasing a revised target of 170 in 46 overs under the DLS method, they reached the goal for seven wickets in 42.1 overs.
Parvez Hossain Emon scored team highest 47 off 79 balls with seven boundaries while skipper Akbar Ali remained not out on 43 off 77 deliveries hitting four boundaries and one six.
