Addressing the programme as the chief guest Finance Minister AMA Muhith said, it is the honour of the nation to have the three national professors and it is the honour of the three of them as well to achieve such respect from the nation.
"When I proposed their names at the selection committee, they were selected without any question by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina", he added.
Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury said, he has worked in many development projects of Bangladesh and it is his biggest achievement to contribute in country's development.
"The country has given me much more than I have given to the country", said Dr. Anisuzzaman.
Rafiqul Islam said, "I have been teaching for more than 60 years and still take classes five days a week. Teaching has kept me alive."
Urging the young generation to enlighten their life with the ideology of these three professor, Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan said, if the youths of the country follow the path of these professors and build up their lives accordingly, that will be the biggest achievement of them becoming national professors.
The programme was presided over by novelist Selina Hossain.
Among others, former information commissioner Azizur Rahman Aziz, Bangladesh Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus, Jatiyo Kobita Parishad President Muhammad Samad and Vice Chancellor of Rabindra University Bishwajit Ghosh also spoke on the occasion.
