The local branches of scheduled banks will remain closed on September 26 (Saturday) in areas under Pabna-4 parliamentary seat which will go to by-polls.

The decision was taken in compliance with the demand of the Election Commission, said a Bangladesh Bank circular.

It mentioned that the Ministry of Public Administration has declared a general holiday in the areas for the by-polls while it is also a weekly holiday.

“Local officials of any bank won’t be allowed to keep open in Aatgharia and Ishwardi upazilas on the day, not even under any special arrangement,” the central bank said.
