JCD election management committee prepared the list for holding the election on July 15.
A press release, signed by Khairul Kabir Khokon, convener of the election management committee, said the top five leaders--president, secretary, senior vice president, joint secretary and organising secretary-- from each of the JCD’s organisational district units and university and college units have been included in the draft voter list.
Besides, a seven-point election code of conduct was also formulated for the election.
As per the code of conduct, no panel can be formed as every candidate must contest the election independently. “Election campaign cannot be conducted through posters, banners and the mass media. Candidates can’t hold any meeting, rally, entertain voters, and present them any gift. “
Restriction is also imposed on giving interviews to media by candidates, holding press conference and taking part in any talk-show.
However, the candidates can use white or black leaflets or visiting card to seek votes from voters. “No candidate or their supporters can distribute leaflets or visiting card or hold any meeting on the voting day.”
All the candidates of election must be unmarried ones.
The election management committee can take punitive actions and even revoke the candidature if any candidate flouts the election code of conduct.
JCD's last committee was formed on October 14, 2014, with Rajib Ahsan as its president and Akramul Hasan as general secretary and it was dissolved on June 3 last.
Amid a row over the formation of its new committee maintaining a specific age limit, BNP on Sunday announced that the council of JCD will be held on July 15 to form the fresh committee through voting.
