Managing Director of the meet’s sponsor Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd. Nazim Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the meet in the noon at a simple ceremony, chaired by President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul.
In the opening match, Sunnydale School crushed Shaheed Sheikh Russell Govt. High School by 17-0 goals after leading the first half 11-0 in a girls group match.
In the day’s other girls’ group matches, Heed International beat Dhanmondi Tutorials by 7-3 goals (first half 4-2), Scholastica outplayed Cambrian School & College by 12-0 goals (first half 6-0), Bangladesh International School & College defeated Shaheed Anwar Girls College by 3-2 goals (first half 1-0), Kadamtola East Bashabo School & College trounced Rajdhani Ideals School by 6-0 goals (first half 5-0) , Shaheed Police Smriti College defeated Siddeswari Girls High by 10-1 goals (first half 2-0).
In the boys’ group matches, Scholastica Uttara beat Motijheel Govt Boys High School by 25-7 goals after leading the first half 10-3 while Saint Gregory’s School defeated Heed International School by 30-20 goals after dominating the first half by 17-1 goals.
A total of 37 school handball teams - 19 boys and 18 girls will compete in the meet, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) and sponsored by Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd.
The finals of both boys and girls competition will be held on September 25 at the same venue.
