Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said the only thing BNP leaders do are holding press briefings and blaming the government.
“There are many BNP leaders who hold press briefings staying in isolation and blame the government. They did not come forward to help the people,” he said while addressing a programme organised to hand over cheques of financial assistance at Chattogram’s Rangunia Upazila Health Complex.
Mahmud noted that those who criticise the government are not coming out of their houses. On the other hand, neither Awami League, nor the government is sitting idle during the pandemic.
“As per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government and Awami League are working in coordinated manner for the wellbeing of people,” he said.
Mahmud, also joint general secretary of the ruling party, mentioned that 60,000 people in Rangunia have received food assistance from the government and more will get soon.
Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Masudur Rahman presided over the programme where Vice-Chairman of Upazila Parishad Md Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present.
