Kurigram, Mar 26 (UNB) – A schoolboy was killed as a tree branch fell on him during a nor’wester at Islampur village in Bhurungamari upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sumir Uddin, a Class-VI student of a kindergarten and son of Mohar Ali of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari Police Station Imtiaj Kabir said Sumir was returning home from his school amid a violent storm.
Suddenly, a branch of a tree collapsed on him around 11:30am, leaving him severely injured.
He was pronounced dead after being taken to Upazila Health Complex.
In another incident, a young man, Al Amin, sustained injuries as a bamboo fell on him during the storm while attending an Independence Day programme at Nehal Uddin Girls’ High School in the upazila.
