Dhaka, Apr 23 (UNB) – A court here on Tuesday asked the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police to investigate a case filed against Sefat Ullah Sefu alias Sefuda, a social media person, for allegedly hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims.
Cyber Crime Tribunal Judge Al Shams Jaglul Hossain recorded testimony of the plaintiff and ordered the CTTC to submit a report on May 15 in this regard.
Advocate Md Alim Razi filed the case with the tribunal under the Digital Security Act.
The case statement said Sefuda who is currently living in Vienna of Austria made derogatory comments about the Quran during a live video on his Facebook account on April 9 hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims.
Besides, he made disparaging remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in live Facebook videos on many occasions.
The plaintiff sought an arrest warrant for Sefuda and directives to shut his Facebook account.
