Narsingdi, Sept 04 (UNB) – Driven by greed for dowry, a husband severed his wife’s hand on Wednesday.
The cruel husband Bishnu Chandra Roy of the town’s Baniachhol area, separated the hand of his wife Deepa Rani Sutrodhor, 29, by cutting it with a knife while she was sleeping at 3am.
Police Super Proloy Kumar Joarder informed that law enforcers visited the spot on information and came to know that she was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka.
After police investigated the incident, Deepa’s brother and relatives detained Bishnu Chandra Roy from Dhaka and handed him over to Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station.
Her brother lodged a case as plaintiff with the Sadar police station in this connection.
Deepa’s mother informed that husband Bishnu was demanding money from the job holder wife. Bishnu had been married several marriages before marrying Deepa.
At one stage, her mother gave Tk 3 lac to Bishnu. But unsatisfied with the amount, Bishnu cut the hand.
Deepa’s mother demanded fair trial into the incident.
