The deceased is the son of late Habibor Rahman of Barandi Mollapara.
Witnesses said that the miscreants killed Abdur Rahman by hacking in front of Rahim’s shop at Banstola of Mollapara at around 10 in the morning.
Fahmida Ruby, daughter of the deceased, informed that neighbour late Nizam Bishwas’s sons Metho Kuddus, Akram, Badal, Faruk, Nur Alam and Shah Alam encircled his father Abdur Rahman when he reached Banstola on his bicycle for business purpose.
“Of them, Akram hit him on his head with a crowbar. At this time he fell on the ground and then the others injured him by hacking”, she said.
Locals rushed to the scene, rescued him and then sent him to Jashore General Hospital. Dr Ahmed Tareq Shams at the emergency department declared him dead but said that he died before being brought to the hospital.
Local residents informed that on October 30 in 2013, General Secretary of Jashore municipality ward number 1 Awami League and businessman Nazrul Islam, was killed. Abdur Rahman was the number one witness of the case and six sons of Nizam Biswas are the accused of the case.
Earlier, they threatened Abdur Rahman warned him n deposition in the case.
There are seven cases including explosive case and Zia and Ripon Killing case against Nizam Biswas’s sons Metho Kuddus, Akram, Badal, Faruk, Nur Alam and Shah Alam.
Salauddin Babu, brother of the deceased, said that there was land dispute between Nizam Biswas and Abdur Rahman and due to that, he might have been killed.
After the killing, Kotwali police station OC Moniruzzaman and police officials, visited the spot. At this time, they recovered the crowbar.
OC Moniruzzaman said that efforts are on to detain the killers.
Kotwali thana SI Shahinur Rahman, who prepared the viscera report, said there were marks of injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon on the head, face, back, hand and shoulder of the body.
