Narayanganj, Oct 17 (UNB) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary on Wednesday claimed that people will keep confidence in police during the upcoming general election as they did in the past.
He came up with the comments after visiting a Durga Puja mandap at Amlapara in the city at night.
Replying to a question, the IGP said, “We don’t think there will be any impact of militancy in the national election. But we’ll prepare our security plan taking into consideration all possibilities.”
About security during Durga Puja, which is being celebrated across the country as the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, he said the prevailing law and order across the country is very good, and hoped it will remain the same until the end of the celebrations.
Senior police officials, including DIG (Dhaka Range) Abdullah Al Mamun, and Deputy Commissioner of the district Rabbi Miah, among others, were present.
