Nazmunnahar Baby, wife of Milan, requested EC on Sunday through a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at city’s Nirbachan Bhaban. But she didn’t get chance to meet CEC.
“My husband can’t appear in the court as Chandpur court areas are totally surrounded by Police and DB men. Even burka-covered women are being forced to take off her burqa while going to court. We want to go to court,” she said while talking to the journalists.
It had not been possible for her to meet CEC even after waiting about two hours, she claimed.
“Later, I met election commissioners Rafiqul Islam and Kabita Khanam and talked about this. They assured me that they will look into the issue,” Nazmunnahar said.
In the letter, Milan said that due to prolonged stay abroad, he had failed to appear before the court in what he termed ‘false’ cases against him that had piled up. Having returned home, he wants to do election but he’s trying to go to the court. He would like to but can’t even go to court as there are so many law enforcement workers along his route.
He also expressed his fears in the letter that police will arrest him filing false cases before appearing in the court aim of torturing bringing remand.
