As a sequel of the enmity, their followers engaged in a clash near Kaichail Darul Ulum Madrasa around 5:30pm, said witnesses.
During the melee, both the feuding groups traded gunshots, leaving 16 people injured, they said.
The injured were first taken to Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex from where seven of them were shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, said Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda Police Station.
However, doctors at the hospital declared two of them brought dead, he said.
Both the groups blamed each other for the incident.
Kabir alleged that Hridoy and his brother Hasan Miah came to the locality in a microbus and opened fire on his followers at the madrasa ground before fleeing.
Hridoy said Kabir’s associates swooped on him and his followers when they came to the village after a long time on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
