He came up with the directive when a delegation of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, led by CAG Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, submitted its 39 audit and accounts reports to him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The President said audit report is an important document for ensuring transparency in spending government funds. "It is their (people concerned) duties and responsibilities to ensure the proper use of public money in the greater interest of people," he said.
Thanking the CAG and others concerned for preparing department-wise reports, he said, "This will help increase transparency at all ministries and institutions in financial dealings. Public interests will be protected in spending governmental funds."
The delegation also apprised the President of different aspects of the Annual Audit and Accounts Report for 2014-2015 fiscal year and previous financial years by the CAG in the meeting.
A total of 25 annual audit reports of 18 ministries and divisions involving Tk 5539.22 crore, nine special audit reports of eight ministries and divisions amounting to Tk 617.34 crore and five other accounts reports were submitted to the President during the meeting.
The other delegation members were Deputy CAG (Accounts and Reports) Md Mahbubul Haque and Additional CAG (Parliament) AKM Hasibur Rahman.
Secretaries concerned to the President were present on the occasion.
