In Sylhet, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members detained a young man from Ghasitula Baro Masjid area of the city in the early hours for ‘making’ disparaging remarks about the Prime Minister, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and ministers and MPs on his Facebook wall.
The detainee was identified as Khaled Ahmed, 35, son of late Abdul Bari of Alfur village in Biswanath upazila of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-9 battalion conducted a drive in the area in the early hours and picked up the youth, said battalion media officer M Nur Alam.
He was later handed over to Kotwali Model Police Station and legal action will be taken against him under the Digital Security Act, he said.
In Panchagarh, police arrested Palash Kumar Roy, son of former female vice-chairman of Atowari upazila Mira Rani, as he reportedly made derogatory comments about the Prime Minister during a human chain near Sher-e-Bangla Park in the district town on Monday.
Palash formed the human chain demanding withdrawal of a case filed against him by Kohinoor Chemical Company Limited for allegedly amassing Tk 30 lakh.
A local boy of Dhakkamara area, Rajib Rana, filed the case against Palash with Panchagarh Sadar Police Station, said its officer-in-charge Abu Akkas Ahmed.
