Dhaka, Mar 13 (UNB) - A seminar on life and works of poet Jasimuddin will be held on at 3 pm on Wednesday at the Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum.
Professor of Bangla in Dhaka University Dr Soumitra Shekhar will present the keynote speech while the son of the poet Khurshid Anowar and prominent poet Habibullah Siraji will take part in discussion to be chaired by Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam.
Jasimuddin known as Polli Kabi, was a poet, songwriter, prose writer, folklore collector and radio personality.
He achieved the President's Award for Pride of Performance, Pakistan (1958) and D.Litt. by Rabindra Bharati University, India (1969) before the liberation war while the poet was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1976 and Independence Day Award in 1978.
