Barishal student ‘commits suicide’ after failing in exam
A college girl has allegedly committed suicide after failing in mathematics examination in Barishal city.
The deceased was identified as Malia Maria Mouli, 17, a resident of the city. She was a student of class XI of Barishal Govt Women’s College.

Mouli hanged herself at her house in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar road on Sunday noon, shortly after she returned home from college, said Azimul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model police station.
She was later rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Mouli’s father Mosharef Hossain, also a college teacher, alleged that Mauli did not take any private tuition from math teacher of her college and so she was deliberately given poor marks in the exam.

Meanwhile, Prof Md Asad, the principal of the college, said, “If we find out about private tuitions by the college teachers, it will be informed to the education ministry.”
“We will investigate the matter if any complaint is lodged by the family,” said the OC.
57-yr-old jumps before train in Natore, dies
A 57-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Natore Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Samir Kumar Kundu, who worked with the district health department. He also used to play football for different clubs in the district.
Kamrun Nahar, Natore railway station master, said that Samir jumped in front of the Chilahat-bound inter-city train ‘Titumir Express’ coming from Rajshahi as it was just entering the platform.

"He died on the spot," the station master said.
Local people claimed that the deceased had been suffering from depression.
Father held over varsity student's suicide
Rab on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly instigating the suicide of his 21-year-old daughter, who blamed her father of being ‘rapist’ in a suicide note, from Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh.
The man was identified as Shaheen Islam, who had been absconding since the incident on Saturday, said Rab’s legal and media wing director Khandaker Al Moin.

On Saturday noon, Sanjana Mosaddika, a first year student of Brac University, allegedly killed herself after jumping off a 10-storey building in Mollartek of the city’s Dakkhinkhan area, said Md Azizul Haque Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) (investigation) of Dakkhinkhan police station.
She was rushed to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) where she succumbed to her injuries.
Meanwhile, police recovered a suicide note from the woman's flat where she blamed her father for her death calling him ‘abusive and rapist’.
Ctg bizman live streams suicide on Facebook in Dubai
A 50-year-old Bangladeshi-origin businessman live-streamed his suicide on Facebook in Dubai on Monday, blaming his business partner for forcing him to take the extreme step.
The deceased was identified as Khairul Bashar, son of Badiul Alam from Fatikchari upazila in Chattogram, said his brother-in-law, Mohammad Saifuddin, chairman of Bakhtpur Union Parishad.
Khairul went live on Facebook around 7pm on Monday and hanged himself, a shocking act that soon became viral, said his brother-in-law.

Khairul lived in a rented accommodation in Lucky Round area of Dubai. He co-owned a mobile phone outlet in Dubai with another Bangladeshi-origin businessman from Suabil village of Fatikchari upazila, Rafik.
In the video, Khairul blamed Rafik for his death saying he had occupied the shop and even took his (Khairul’s) car keys. Khairul also alleged that he was beaten up by Rafik. "I am committing suicide because of being cheated by my business partner," he said.
Shoaib Shikder, panel chairman of Dharmapur UP, said that Khairul, in a recent Facebook post about his business, had hinted requested that he should be buried in the UAE, in a clear hint that he was contemplating suicide.

“We have asked the Fatikchari and Dharmapur expatriate council leaders to take legal action in this regard,” he said.
Khairul is survived by his mother, wife and two children, he said.
Dinajpur youth commits suicide in front of lover
A 22-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping under the wheels of a train after failing to convince his girlfriend at Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur district on Sunday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mostakim, son of Mohubar Rahman, a resident of Sanderai village of the upazila.
Mostakim jumped under the wheels of the Dhaka-bound 'Panchagarh Express' train from Panchagarh leaving his girlfriend standing beside the railway track, said Ershadul Haque, in charge of Railway Police Station.

Later, he was rushed to Chirirbandar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead upon arrival, added the in-charge.
The girl was immediately taken into protective custody by Bazlur Rashid, in charge of Chirirbandar police station, to prevent coercion.
Blackmail behind Sylhet college student's suicide; one sent to jail
A Sylhet court has sent a man to jail for blackmailing a college student who committed suicide in a hostel in Sylhet city two months ago.
The accused is Shyamal Das, 21, of Habiganj district.
Judge Saifur Rahman of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 passed the order on Thursday after recording the accused’s statement.
Syed Anisul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahporan police station,said they arrested Shyamol from Jalalabad residential area of Sylhet and presented him before the court on Thursday.
Shyamal Das gave a confessional statement in the court regarding his involvement in the suicide.

Referring to the statement, the OC said Shyamal hacked into the Facebook messenger of the victim Smriti Rani Das and blackmailed her with her private photos for money.
He took Tk 2,500 from her which she had sent through Bkash before committing suicide.
The police arrested Shyamol after tracking him based on that transaction, said the OC.
A case of instigating suicide was filed at Shahporan police station following a complaint of the victim’s father, said OC Anisul.
On May 25, Smriti, a 21-year-old student of MC College, was found hanging inside a room in her hostel in the Tilagarh area of Sylhet city.
Prof Saleh Ahmed of MC College said Smriti used to stay in a room on the second floor of the hostel but her body was found in an unoccupied room on the third floor.
RU female student's hanging body recovered; Husband arrested
A female student of Rajshahi University (RU) was found hanging at a residence in the district's Dharampur area on Friday midnight.
The deceased was identified as Mst. Rikta Akhter, 21, a second-year student of the Law department of the university and hailed from Jotpara village of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia.
She used to live in a rented house in the Dharampur area adjacent to the university with her husband Abdullah Ishtiaq Rabbi, also a second-year student in the university’s Applied Mathematics Department hailing from Porahati of Harinakundu Upazilla of Jhenaidah.
Quoting Rabbi, police said he found Rita hanging in their window on Friday night. Later, Rabbi along with his friend took her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Rita's father Liakat Ali Joarder filed a complaint with Motihar police accusing Rabbi, said Anwar Ali Tuhin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Motihar Police Station.
Later, police arrested Rabbi and sent him to jail through a Rajshahi court, added the OC.
College student 'ends life' in Chuadanga
A 17-year-old college student allegedly ended his life by consuming poison over his parents' refusal to buy him a bike in Chuadanga.
The deceased was identified as Sabbir Hossain, a resident of Sadar upazila of the district. He was a Class XII student of Chuadanga Government College.

Family sources said Sabbir consumed poison on Wednesday night as his parents didn’t buy him a bike despite his repeated pleas over the past few days.
Later, he was rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where he died during treatment around 11pm, said Mahabbur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Sadar police station.
The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
Chattogram head teacher kills himself
A primary school head teacher took his own life in Chattogram's Karnaphuli upazila Wednesday after suffering a swift decline in his mental health, police said.
Joy Chatterjee, 52, from Char Patharghata union of the upazila had been head teacher at Charlakhya Government Primary School.
Being deep in debt, living alone, and the death of his mother triggered an immense amount of pressure on the teacher.

"This was not the first time that the head teacher had tried to end his life. He had tried to commit suicide before by jumping into the River Karnafuli a few years ago," Md Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Karnaphuli Police Station, said.
"However, this time Joy was found hanged in his rented flat. Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for an autopsy."
Septuagenarian commits suicide in Sylhet
A septuagenarian reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the Rampasha union of Bishwanath upazila on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Khaleque, 70, son of the late Abdur Rashid of Chakram Prosad village.
The deceased's family members said Khaleque was seen as mentally imbalanced for a few days.

On Friday night, they found him hanging from the ceiling of his nephew's house near his house and informed the police.
Police rushed to the spot immediately after being informed and recovered the body.
The body has been sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, Jayant Sarkar, sub-inspector of Bishwanath Police Station.
