3 youths arrested for raping housewife in Patuakhali
Police arrested three youths for raping a woman in Rangabali upazila in Patuakhali on Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as her brother-in-law Solaiman, 22, Bappy, 24,and Arif Khan, 23.
Solaiman and Bappy were arrested from Galachipa upazila by Charshiba camp police in the early hours of Thursday while Arif was arrested from Vhar Nazir village by Rangabali station police.

On Wednesday night, the victim's father filed a case with the Rangabali police station against seven people including Arif Khan, as the main accused.
According to the complaint, on Wednesday 10 am the victim left her in-laws' house at Charbishwash village for her father’s home in Char Beshtani village in Rangabali upazila with her brother-in-law Solaiman.

At the launch terminal in Char Agasti, Solaiman took her and boarded Arif Khan’s trawler where they later raped her consecutively near the Shaper Khal area around noon.
Officer-in-Charge of Rangabali police station Jaglul Hasan said the three accused were produced before court and effort is on to arrest the others.
2 death-row convicts to be executed for killing two women after rape
Two death-row convicts will be executed on Monday night in connection with a case filed for killing two women after violating them in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district.
The execution of the two men —Mintu alias Kalu, 50 and Aziz alias Azizul, 50 of Laxmipur village in Alamdanga upazila—will take place at Jashore Central Jail around 10:45 pm, authorities said.
The jail authorities are taking preparation in this regard.

According to the jail authorities, prisoners Mashier, Ketu, Kamal and others were trained to execute them.
Tuhin Kanti Khan, Jailer of Jashore Central Jail, said the relatives of the two condemned convicts visited them finally on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner and Civil Surgeon will be present during the execution.
Azizul and Mintu gang-raped women at Railaxmipur village in Alamdanga upazila and strangled them to death with scarfs.
On September 28, 2003, the family of the two victims lodged complaints with Alamdanga Police Station in Chuadanga.
On July 26, 2007, Chuadanga Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge sentenced Azizul and Mintu to death.

The court also fined them Tk 2 lakh each.
Later, the two convicts filed an appeal against the lower court order.
On November 11, 2012, the High Court upheld the lower court verdict. Besides, Appellate Division of the Supreme Court also upheld the lower court verdict on July 26, this year.
The two convicts also filed mercy petitions before the President which were also rejected.
The jail authorities received a letter regarding it on September 8.
According to the prosecution, Kamela Khatun, 30 and her friend Finge Begum, 32 of Jorgachha village in Alamdanga upazila, were found dead in a field at Railaxmipur village on September 27, 2003.
During investigation, police unearthed that the victims were strangulated to death after rape. Later, the convicts also slit the throat of the two women to ensure their deaths.
A case was filed against four people—Mintu, Azizul, Mahi and Sujon-- with Alamdanga Police Station on the following day.
During the trial, Mahi, an accused of the case, died while Sujon was acquitted by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and he walked out from jail on July 20.
Man gets 72-year sentence for rape and kidnap of minor in Joypurhat
A man was sentenced a total of 72-years imprisonment on Tuesday for the kidnapping and rape of a ninth-grade student in Joypurhat in 2018.
District Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Rustom Ali passed the order comprising 60-years in jail with a fine of Tk 17 lakh for the rape and 12 years for the kidnapping.
The convict is Abdul Momin Akhand, 25, resident of Bambu union in Joypurhat sadar upazila.

According to the complaint, on September 3, 2018, Abdul Momin abducted the victim from in front of her school in Dharki-Borail Para area with six assistants and later raped her serially.
On September 5, the victim’s father filed a kidnapping and rape case against six at Joypurhat police station.
After three months of the incident, police rescued the victim during a drive and arrested accused Abdul Momin.

On December 31, 2018, police submitted charge sheet against Momin and spared all the other accused.
Minor raped by 40-yr-old neighbour in Magura
A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man at a village in Sadar upazila of Magura district.
The crime occurred on Thursday night, but an FIR was lodged a day later after the girl, a class V student, narrated her ordeal to her parents, prompting them to approach cops.
In the complainant, the girl's family alleged that their neighbour Farid Molla lured their daughter to his house on the pretext of giving her some medicine and then violated her, said Manjurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Magura police station.
The accused had also threatened to kill her if she revealed her ordeal to anyone, the OC said, citing the complaint. "The minor girl is currently undergoing treatment at Magura Sadar Hospital," he said.
"An FIR has been filed and efforts are on to nab the accused," Manjurul added.

A police headquarters report, released recently, said that 26,695 rape cases were filed across the country in the past five years.
Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) data shows that 1,018 children were raped last year alone, but only 683 police cases had been filed. Also, 116 survivors were six years old or below.
Overall, 1,627 rape cases were reported last year and 53 of the women were killed by the perpetrators while 14 took their own lives, as per the data.
However, ASK's data is just the tip of the iceberg, according to aid agencies, who report that most women are too afraid to report rape.
In October 2020, the country was rocked by protests after a woman was allegedly attacked and raped in Noakhali.

Minor girl ‘raped’ by teenage boy in Dhaka
A teenage boy allegedly raped a minor girl at Kalunagar in Hazaribagh of Dhaka on Sunday evening.
The 7-year old rape victim was admitted to the one stop crisis center of Dhaka medical College and Hospital on Sunday night after her family members came to know the matter.
According to the mother of the girl, her daughter was dragged by a 16 year old boy to his home where he raped her.

As the girl fell sick upon arriving home, they found out what happened and they immediately rushed her to DMCH.
A case was filed over the matter and police promptly arrested the accused teenager, said Hazaribagh Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahasin Ali.
Charges pressed against Nasir, Omi in Pori Moni case
Police have submitted a charge-sheet against three people, including businessman Nasir U Mahmood and his associate Tuhin Siddique Omi, in a case filed by Pori Moni bringing charges of rape and murder attempts on her.
The other accused in the charge-sheet is Shah Shahidul Alam.

The investigating officer, inspector Md Kamal Hossain of Savar police station, submitted the charge-sheet against the three accused to the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Monday.
In her verified Facebook page, Pori Moni uploaded a status seeking justice from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that the six people attempted to rape and kill her at the Uttara Boating Club on June 9.
On June 14, Pori Moni filed a sexual assault complaint against six people, including Nasir and Omi, with Savar Model Police Station.
Later, Nasir and four others were arrested from Uttara by a team of detectives.
Later, police filed a narcotics case with Airport Police Station against Nasir and Omi over the recovery of liquor and Yaba pills during their arrest.

On June 23, a Dhaka court placed Nasir and Omi on a five-day remand each in the case.
The court on June 29 granted bail to Nasir and Omi in the case.
Woman gang-raped after abduction from rail station in Ullapara
A group of men raped a woman after abducting her from a railway station where she was waiting to catch a train to visit her parental home, police said on Wednesday.
Police said they launched a hunt for the alleged rapists after the woman’s husband filed a case with Ullapara Model Police Station naming about 12 unidentified men for the assault.
The incident happened on Sunday night. According to the husband he along with his wife arrived at Salpa railway station under Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj district in the afternoon to take a train to go to his father-in-law’s home. He asked the wife to wait at a tea stall next to the station and went to pay the fare of the van driver who brought them there. On return she found his wife missing only to be found the next morning.

Deepak Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge of the police station, said some local people on Monday morning reported to the husband that they saw a woman lying sick in a mango orchard in neighbouring Betkandi village, about half a kilometre away from the railway station.
Being informed, police rescued the rape survivor and admitted her to the hospital.
The survivor said after recovery that some people tactfully made her faint before she found herself in the lonely orchard at night. There the men raped her throughout the night before leaving her in a bad shape.

On Tuesday afternoon, the rape survivor's husband filed a case with the Ullapara Model Police Station against 10/12 unidentified persons.
Sirajganj Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Hossain (Ullapara Circle) said the police have launched a hunt for the perpetrators.
Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad demands exemplary punishment for rape incident in Sunamganj
Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad, an organization of students from minority backgrounds, have protested the rape of a woman from the Hajong community in Sunamganj on August 14 and also demanded exemplary punishment of the rapist.
On Tuesday morning, the leaders and activist of Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad held this protest procession in front of the National Museum in the capital and also placed a five-point charter of demand.
The five points are: Appropriate compensation has to be paid to the five Garo families affected in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur district and Range officers and beat officers, especially those involved in such heinous acts must be provide exemplary punished; ensure rights of traditional land of ethnic minorities’ people; the conspiracy of grabbing the land of ethnic minority group of Doluchhora in Moulvibazar, Garo and Khasia community have to stop immediately ; a separate land commission for the plain land’s ethnic minority communities

Organizing Secretary Badol Hajong conducted the program while its general secretary Alik Mree presided over the program.
Besides, expressing solidarity with the Parishad, Dhaka University's Sociology Department Professor Khairul Chowdhury Rupam and DU Anthropology Department associate professor Zobaida Nasrin Kona attended and also spoke at the program.
Professor Khairul Chowdhury said, ‘"The Incidents of torture and oppression against indigenous women are happening repeatedly in the country. And we are protesting only. I think it is time to form an indigenous human rights commission to solve their problems. And we also demand formation of a land commission for them."
Anthropology Department Associate Professor Zobaida Nasreen said, "Patriarchal society and culture of injustice are the main reasons behind such incidents in Bangladesh. It is not possible to tackle such crimes only through protests. To prevent this klinds of incident, everyone in society should be united and fight against rape."
Speaking on the procession Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad General Secretary Alik Mree said that five Adivasi families have lost crops worth several lakhs taka due to deforestation in the name of social forestry at Sreebardi upazila in Sherpur. There are more than 50 ethnic minorities’ families in fear of eviction. Not only in the case of Sherpur, but also in Sylhet, Tangail and Chittagong Hill Tracts of the country, the forest department is working to evict the ethnic minorities.
He said that the conspiracy of grabbing the lands of ethnic minority group have to stop immediately and also demanded exemplary punishment for raping a Hajong woman in Tahirpur.

Bangladesh Adibasi Juba Forum President Ananta Bikash Dhamai, General Secretary of Hajong Students' Organization Ashish Hajong and among others also spoke at the rally.
Ghaibandha doc rapes patient at clinic, held
A doctor has been arrested for allegedly raping a patient at his clinic in Kalua Bazar village of Ghaibandha's Gobindaganj upazila.
The arrestee has been identified as Shaharul Islam, a resident of the village.

According to local residents, the woman suffering from an ailment visited Dr Shaharul's clinic on Thursday evening. As no one else was there at the clinic then, the doctor forced himself on the woman.
Locals detained the doctor and informed police after the woman came out of the clinic and raised an alarm.
On information, a team from the local police station arrested Shaharul.
Tajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Gobindaganj Police Station, said a rape case has been filed against the doctor.

Youth arrested for raping Madrasa girl in Keraniganj
A youth was arrested in Keraniganj for allegedly raping a 14-year-old madrasa girl on Sunday night.
The arrestee was identified as Biplob alias Dipu, 28, son of Kolim of Bamonshur area.

Abu Salam, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said Biplob abducted the girl and raped her in a house. He freed the girl after eight hours with a threat to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.
Later, on Sunday night, Police arrested Biplob when rape-survivor's mother filed a case against him.
The arrestee was sent to jail after being produced before court on Monday afternoon, the OC added.
