DCAB pays tribute to Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi 32
Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) on Friday paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in the city.
DCAB members, led by its President Rezaul Karim Lotus and General Secretary AKM Moinuddin, placed wreaths at Bangabandhu's portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.

They also stood in solemn silence for some time showing profound respect to the memory of Father of the Nation, the architect of the Independent Bangladesh, his family members, Liberation War martyrs and the Freedom Fighters.
Bangabandhu in death much stronger than living Bangabandhu: Chief Justice
Newly-appointed Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Saturday said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is much stronger in death than in life.
“I think, Bangabandhu was assassinated on August 15, 1975 but he will live among people and we feel Bangabandhu all over the country. So dead Bangabandhu is stronger than living Bangabandhu. Bangabandhu remained alive in our soul. The judges are working to implement his ideals keeping him in the highest place of respect,” he said.
The New Chief Justice came up with the remark while paying tribute at the altar of the National Memorial at Savar on Saturday.
Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Md Nuruzzaman were present there with him.
Earlier in the day, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique also paid homage at the portrait of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32.
He also signed the visitor’s book.
On December 30, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, a judge of the Appellate Division, was appointed the new Chief Justice (CJ) of Bangladesh.

Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.
Incumbent Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain went on retirement on Thursday as he turned 68.
According to Article 96 (1) of the constitution, a judge cannot hold office beyond the age of 67.
The outgoing Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain paid a farewell call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Wednesday evening.
Bullets couldn’t wipe out Bangabandhu’s ideals: Kovind
Visiting Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday said the anti-liberation forces who brutally killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family did not realize that bullets and violence cannot extinguish an idea that has captured the imagination of the millions of people.
Above all, he said, the anti-liberation forces did not count on the determination and resilience of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who faced assassination attempts and dictatorships with remarkable courage.
The Indian President said Prime Minister Hasina has been driven by the strong conviction to realise the dream of Bangabandhu, and his spirit of the “rebel”, as set out in the famous poem by the great poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
He made the remarks at the Victory Day and Mujib Borsho celebrations in the city. President Abdul Hamid spoke as the chief guest.

Copyright of Bangabandhu, Liberation War photographs owned by State: HC
The High Court has ruled that individuals cannot claim the copyright of the historical photographs of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Liberation War.The court said that if anyone wants to use historical photographs of Bangabandhu or the Liberation War in any publication, he/she has to acknowledge the sources.A HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order on Tuesday, disposing of a rule issued against senior Jamuna TV reporter Nazmul Hossain on charges of plagiarism and copyright violation of two books written about Bangabandhu.Lawyer Aneek R Haque appeared for the petitioner in the court while Lawyer Shah Manjurul Haque for the journalist Nazmul Hossain.

According to the petition, although the copyright of the book ‘Bangabandhu Maanei Bangladesh’ and ‘3053 Din’ is owned by Nazmul Hasan, owner of Journey Multi Media, the copyright of the photographs of Bangabandhu used in the book are not owned by the publisher. Lawyer Aneek R Haque said that individuals have no rights over Bangabandhu's photographs, the people have the rights. Those who have already published the books with Bangabandhu's photographs, are asked to quote the state in the books.

Bangabandhu’s bust unveiled in Ankara as Bangladesh-Turkey ties deepen
A bust of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was unveiled on Monday at Bangabandhu Boulevard named after the father of the nation at one of the most renowned roads of Turkish capital, Ankara.
"This is an absolute honour and privilege for me to be here today to witness a historic moment in the ever-expanding friendship between Bangladesh and Turkey," said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at the unveiling ceremony.

Vasip Şahin, Governor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Md. Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation also spoke.
FM for joint efforts to build Bangabandhu’s “Sonar Bangla”
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said his ministry has been working on multiple fronts to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build “Sonar Bangla” as guided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Bangabandhu had given us a dream - the dream of building Sonar Bangla. It’s our responsibility to build Sonar Bangla,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister has made a number of roadmaps to build “Sonar Bangla.”
The Foreign Minister made the remarks at a discussion titled "Chiro Omlan Bangabandhu" organised by Association of Former BCS [FA] Ambassadors (AOFA) at Foreign Service Academy on Saturday.

Dr Momen said they believe the dream of building “Sonar Bangla” will be implemented by 2041 as the country is on the right track of achieving that goal.
The Foreign Minister appreciated the roles of the former Bangladesh envoys and said they are very experienced and steps have been taken to utilize their experiences. “We seek your continued suggestions and hope you all will get engaged deeply.”
He said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects deeper engagements of the envoys in MoFA’s efforts sharing their experiences and knowledge.
Dr Momen thanked the people of the country for giving Bangladesh Awami League an opportunity to celebrate twin mega events – birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of independence.
The Foreign Minister also highlighted MoFA’s initiatives through economic and public diplomacy wings.

JU to hold global conference on Bangabandhu
A two-day international conference, titled 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and His Legacy' will begin at Jahangirnagar University (JU) Sunday.
Leading researchers from Bangladesh, India, Canada, Germany and Sweden will take part in the conference, where a total of 15 keynote papers and 102 research papers on Bangabandhu will be presented.

Conference convener Prof Mezbah Kamal said, "We are going to present the research programme to generate interest among the youth to do research on Bangabandhu."
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam will inaugurate the international conference at the Zahir Raihan Auditorium of JU. Planning Minister Abdul Mannan MP will be present as the chief guest.
Former Vice-Chancellor of India's Rabindra Bharati University Prof Pabitra Sarkar, an eminent academic, will attend the conference.
Khaleda Zia gave posthumous award to Bangabandhu's killer: Joy
Khaleda Zia returned the job of Bangabandhu's killer and sent him to posthumous retirement, wrote Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on his verified Facebook page.
Aziz Pasha, one of the convicted murderers of Bangabandhu and his family, was reinstated to his job in 2001 after BNP-Jamaat came to power and Khaleda Zia became the Prime Minister. Then was sent to posthumous retirement and Khaleda Zia even declared him as a 'posthumous retired officer' and gave his family all the financial benefits, Joy said at his post

Joy wrote in his post that Khaleda Zia gave posthumous award to the murderer Aziz Pasha.
After the assassination of Bangabandhu, Ziaur Rahman first gave him a job at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a gift to the murderer Aziz Pasha. Aziz Pasha served as a diplomat in Argentina, Kenya and Italy. Then in 1991 after the formation of Khaleda Zia's government he was Khaleda's most trusted official as Deputy High Commissioner in Zimbabwe.

However, after the formation of the Awami government in 1996, Aziz Pasha was ousted and asked to return to the country. But he never returned. He took cover in Zimbabwe and in 2001 died due to a physical illness, Joy further wrote in his post.
‘Will never stop fighting’: Tulip Siddiq
Tulip Siddiq, a British parliament member and granddaughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has said she will never stop fighting for those who properly recognised and supported her.
The Hampstead and Kilburn MP said this in her twitter handle after being appointed as the Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury (City Minister).
Tulip’s political success story highlights the ambitions of aspirational women across the world seeking due space in political landscape as they are held hostage to male power, according to political analysts.
In her tweet, Tulip said, "After nearly six years as Shadow Early Years Minister, I'm pleased to be taking on the role of Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury (City Minister). I'm looking forward to a new challenge in Shadow Chancellor at Rachel Reeves MP's team.”
“Championing the early years’ sector from the Labour frontbench has been a privilege, she said, adding that early education is crucial in shaping children's life chances. “I will never stop fighting for those who provide it to be properly recognised and supported.”
Tulip went on saying, “They truly are unsung heroes. There’re too many people I want to thank for all the support they've given me in holding the Government to account on early years.”

As Shadow Minister for Children and Early Years, Tulip said, she has also fought for better support for vulnerable children, looked after children, children with “SEND” and those eligible for free school meals.
“Thanks to all the campaigners and organisations who supported me in this work. I know my successor Helen Hayes will do an amazing job of standing up for children and those working to support them, and I wish her and the new Shadow Education Secretary,” Tulip mentioned.
In May 2015, Tulip was first elected to Britain’s House of Commons from Hampstead and Kilburn in London and she drew the international attention with her maiden speech in parliament.

Tulip, a member of the Labour Party, was reelected from the Hampstead and Kilburn in 2019.
Tulip Siddiq captured a spot on The Progress 1000 list of the Evening Standard in October, 2019 to become one of the most influential politicians of London.
Bangabandhu believed in peace, dialogue, social harmony: Saima
Saima Wazed, chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism and Neuro Developmental Disorders, on Sunday said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman believed that peace can only be achieved through fairness, justice and equality.
Saima, also World Health Organization’s (WHO) Goodwill Ambassador for Southeast Asia, said Bangabandhu throughout his life worked towards peace to achieve social equality and harmony while social justice and fairness was at the core of all his works.

She made the remarks at a panel discussion titled “Peace through Inter-faith Dialogue, Culture and Heritage” held at Foreign Service Academy as part of the two-day World Peace Conference.
Saima is the member secretary of the organizing committee of the World Peace Conference.

Saima, also daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said peace is all about social equality and many people forget how Bangabandhu started and what he stood for. “He started with something so small.”
“He believed in dialogue and standing up for the rights and fighting for those who could not speak for themselves,” she said.

President Abdul Hamid inaugurated the two-day "World Peace Conference-2021" on Saturday that brought together global thinkers, political personalities and peace promoters.
The conference is looking back on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s vision and political struggle for peace.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of the two-day conference on Sunday afternoon.
The conference, being held in a hybrid format through both physical and virtual participation, is also shedding light on the legacy being carried forward by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her “untiring quest” of building a peaceful, just, rights-based, inclusive and prosperous nation.
