Dhaka, Jan 12 (UNB) – BCB North Zone got off to a flying start in the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) as they crushed Walton Central Zone by 9 wickets in the first round four-day game, which ended on day four at Sylhet International Stadium on Friday.
Central Zone, having 188/10 in 56 overs in the 1st innings, resumed the 2nd innings on the 4th day with their overnight score of 234/7 in 77 overs and raised their tally to 336/10 in 116.5 overs where skipper-cum-overnight-batsman Mosharraf Hossain completed a half century scoring 61 runs while Mohammad Sharif added 24 and another overnight batsman Mehrab Hossain Jr was out for 18 runs.
Surhrawardi Shuvo captured four wickets for 71 runs and Ariful Haque bagged three wickets for 50runs in the innings.
Defending champions North Zone, having 457/9-dec in 119.4 overs in the 1st innings, opened the 2nd innings on the final day and sealed the victory scoring 70/1 in 12.1 overs where opener Nazmul Hossain (31*), Mizanur Rahman (25) and Zunaed Siddique (10*) were the scorers for the side.
Tanbir Hayder took the only wicket conceding 15 runs.
North Zone skipper Jahurul Islam, who hit a century of 158 runs in the 1st innings, was adjudged man of the match.
Raqibul Hasan was another centurion in the match hammering 105 for Central Zone in the 2nd innings on Day-3.
