Dhaka, Jan 12 (UNB) - Islami Bank East Zone and Prime Bank South Zone played draw in the 1st round of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), which ended on day-four at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan Ground-4 on Friday.
East Zone skipper Mominul Haque, who hit a double ton scoring 258 runs in their total collection of 546/10 in 129.5 overs in the 1st innings, was adjudged man of the match. Zakir Hasan was another big hitter in the same innings for East Zone with a century of 119 runs.
Country’s veteran spinner Abdur Razzak captured six wickets conceding 178 runs in the 1st innings and three wickets for 41 runs in the 2nd innings for South Zone and became the highest wicket taker in the first class league as the first bowler of the country, grabbing 499 wickets at average 29.11 from 112 matches.
On the final day on Friday, South Zone resumed the 1st innings with their overnight score of 318/5 in 89 overs and finished the innings on 395/10 overs in 110.5 overs where overnight batsman Al Amin scored 49* and skipper Quazi Nurul was out for 47 runs on the day.
Musaddek Hossain and Tushar Imran hammered a century each scoring 110 and 105 runs in the 1st innings on the 3rd day for South Zone.
After the century in the match, Tushar Imran will need 35 runs more to be the 1st player to record 10, 000 runs in the first class league of Bangladesh as he has already scored 9965 runs at average 42.04 from 153 matches.
Shohag Gazi captured five wickets for 86 runs while Nazmul Apu bagged three wickets for 127runs in the innings for East Zone.
East Zone opened the 2nd innings and scored 93 /4 in 29 overs on the final day for a draw where opener Liton Kumar Das stayed for a half century of 51* runs while Yasir Ali and skipper Muminul added 19 and 13 runs respectively.
Apart from Razzak’s three-for, Kamrul Islam Rabbi took one wicket for 19 runs for South Zone.
