Panchagarh, Oct 24 (UNB) – A woman, who suffered burn injuries after her sharee caught fire at Hagurajot village in Tetulia upazila on Tuesday, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Asma Khatun, 55, wife of Abdur Sattar of the village.
Local union parishad chairman Fazlur Rahman said the accident occurred while she was cooking at night and was given treatment at home.
She succumbed to her wounds in the morning , he said.
Manikganj, Oct 24 (UNB) – A farmer was killed in an attack by his rivals at Bhatranda village in Ghior upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Halim Miah, 40, son of late Ansar Ali of the village.
Quoting local farmers, Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ghior Police Station, said that Halim had enmity with some local people over 55 decimal land.
When Halim was digging a drain for irrigation of his field in the morning, his rival group swooped on him and hit him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Later, the injured was rushed to Ghior upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested three local people- Rashid, Joynal and Hafiz Hasan- for interrogation.
Satkhira, Oct 24 (UNB) – Police recovered the hanging body of a young girl from a diagnostic center at Palashpole in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Tamanna Khatun, 21, daughter of Selim Gazi of Kolijoga village in Kaliganj upazila.
Sub-inspector Pradip Das of Sadar Police Station said Abu Syed, the compounder of Dr Kazi Arif Ahmed of Nahar Diagnostic Center, had developed love affair with Tamanna.
On Tuesday, Tamanna came to the chamber to meet Syed and asked him to marry her.
As Aby Syed refused to marry Tamanna, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the chamber, said police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Cox’s Bazar, Oct 24 (UNB) – Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a suspected drug trader from Maheshkhalia Para in Teknaf upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mufiz Alam, son of Lal Mia of Hnila Leda area in the upazila.
Being informed that two groups of ‘drug traders’ were exchanging bullets, a team of police went to the spot and recovered Mufiz with bullet injuries early in the morning, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
The injured was taken to Teknaf Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Police also recovered 5,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, five LG guns and 20 bullets from the spot.
Benapole, Oct 24 (UNB) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Hundi trader along with Tk 13 lakh from Uttarpara in Putkhali bordering area here on Tuesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Rony Ahmed, 36, son of Abul Kashem of Uttarpara village.
Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Khalsi area and arrested Rony along with the money, said Lieutenant Colonel Imran Ullah of BGB-21, Khulna.
A motorcycle was also seized during the drive.
Later, the arrestee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, he added.
