Cox’s Bazar, Nov 16 (UNB) – Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a suspected drug peddler from Borodhail area near Marine Drive Road in Teknaf upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Belal, 35, a criminal listed by the Home Ministry and son of Nur Mohammad of Hoakia Para.
Hearing sounds of gunshots in the area around 1 am, a team of police went to the spot and recovered the body of Belal, said Pradeep Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
Police suspected that Belal might have killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two gangs of criminals.
Belal was wanted in four several cases including that of drugs.
Rajshahi, Nov 16 (UNB) – A man was killed and ten others were injured when a bus overturned at Haripur in Paba upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Shawkat Ali, 30.
The accident took place around 8:30 am when the Chapainawabganj-bound bus of ‘Desh Travels’ from Dhaka hit a roadside tree and turned turtle, leaving Shawkat dead on the spot and ten others injured, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Damkura Police Station.
The injured were taken to a local hospital.
Dhaka, Nov 16 (UNB) –A child was killed and six people sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at Dhalpur in Jatrabari on Friday.
The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
The gas cylinder went off in a house with a big bang, leaving the child dead on the spot and six others injured around 7am, said sub-inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp.
Later they were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 8:30.
Savar, Nov 16 (UNB) – A van-puller was killed when a truck hit his van on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Genda area here on Friday.
Police said Jamal Hossain, the van-puller of ‘Nur Mahal Bakery’, shop died on the spot when a speedy truck hit the van in the morning.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue.
However, the truck driver managed to flee the scene
Manikganj, Nov 16 (UNB) – A young housewife was found hanging at her house of Tillirchar village in Saturia upazila on Thursday.
Police recovered the body of Marzina Begum, 26, wife of expatriate Nazrul Islam of the village, at noon.
Local union parishad member Shukur Ali said family members stormed the room at noon breaking open the door after getting no response from Mazrina despite repeated calls.
They found the housewife hanging from the ceiling of her room, he said.
Officer-in-charge of Saturia Police Station Aminul Islam said they were investigating the incident.
