Xiaomi Poco F5 Pro 5G Review: What’s new?
In the fast-paced world of smartphones, Xiaomi has emerged as a prominent player, consistently pushing boundaries with its innovative and feature-packed devices. In August 2018, Xiaomi launched its sub-brand Poco with an aim to provide advanced phones to budget-conscious consumers. One such series that has captured the attention of tech enthusiasts is the Xiaomi Poco F Phone series. This lineup offers exceptional performance, cutting-edge features, and affordability, catering to the demands of a wide range of users. Poco has recently announced the launch of F5 Pro. This phone debuts in China in May this year. Let’s see what features you can expect from Poco F5 Pro.
Key Specs of Poco F5 Pro 5G
Design & Display
The Poco F5 Pro comes with a stylish and sleek design with a glass back panel. The curved edges make the phone more comfortable to hold. Despite its 6.41 x 2.97 x 0.34 (inches) dimension, the phone remains lightweight, weighing in at just 204g. The front has a stunning 6.67-inches flat display with ultra-thin bezels, resulting in a truly attractive aesthetic feature.
While the design is impressive, its durability is not the absolute best available. However, the display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. But it only offers IP53 certification for dust and water protection. The good thing is the display features an AMOLED panel with a remarkable resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels.

With a maximum 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1400 nits, the display ensures a visually stunning experience. Even under bright conditions outdoors, the Pro HDR support enhances the clarity and beauty of the content, making it appear vivid.
Further, if you are a gamer, you will love to hear that Poco F5 Pro has a 480Hz touch sampling rate making it a more responsive phone compared to other phones in this price range.
The phone comes in black and white colors. The white color features hiding fingerprint marks left on the smooth glass back panel.

Xiaomi POCO F5 5G Review: Is this mid-range phone worth buying
Xiaomi recently launched the Poco F5 5G in India on 9th May 2023. Poco has launched a range of value for money devices with their F series smartphones. Even though the phones of this lineup are meant as mid-range smartphones, what they pack inside would easily compete with yesteryear’s flagships. And their latest innovation Poco F5 5G has pushed that line even further. Here’s how.
Key Specifications of Xiaomi Poco F5 5G
Design and Build Quality
Being a mid-range, the Poco F5 generated quite a buzz even before its release. The device also made it to our list of the best upcoming smartphones for the month of May. And after the release, the hype train has only lengthened.
Much of the excitement has to do with the design of the device itself. The F series goes for a new iteration each year and the F5 is also no different. The device has a glass front, an aluminium frame, and a plastic back.
The back design has an abstract scratch-like design that refracts under direct light. It gives off a fresh snow vibe on the white variant. The aluminium frame is boxy and sturdy, bringing some heft to the device. But the magic is happening on the front.

Weighing 181g, the Xiaomi’s Poco F5 5G has dimensions of 6.34 x 2.95 x 0.31 (inches). Its display is protected by the corning gorilla glass 5.
Before the Nothing Phone 1, there weren’t really any mentionable mid-range smartphones with a uniform front bezel. The Poco F5 has brought that uniformity and has done a better job at it. The bezels are much thinner all around compared to the Nothing Phone 1 and it honestly feels like a Samsung S23 from the front.
The usual selection of ports and buttons are all there. The micro SDXC has been scrapped but the headphone jack has made a comeback. It's unusual to see headphone jacks on a premium midrange device in 2023. The fingerprint and the volume button are mounted on the right. The sim tray slot is on the left with the secondary noise-cancelling mic on top.
The only gripe with the design would be the fingerprint scanner. As a premium midrange, Poco could’ve easily incorporated an in-display fingerprint scanner. But overall, the build and the design will impress most people.

The Display
The 6.67-inch display on the Poco F5 is probably its biggest highlight. While being a midrange, Poco has somehow incorporated a 12 bits AMOLED FHD panel on the device featuring resolutions of 1080 by 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio, along with 395 ppi density.
For context, 12 bits can produce up to 68B colours, which was only reserved for the premium flagships up until now. In comparison, most midrange and some flagships come with 10 bits which produce 1B colours.
There is also Dolby Vision and HDR10+ to support such a wide colour array. And the 120 Hz refresh makes interaction buttery smooth.
The spec on the paper also translates to use. There are no weird colour shifts on the angles and everything looks much more contrasty than an average midrange. Users would definitely enjoy the panel for normal use and media consumption.
The display also has a typical 500 nits brightness with a 1000 nits HBM for perfect outdoor viewing.

The Camera
The Poco F5 has a triple camera setup. The main sensor is a 64 MP (f/1.8) wide-angle shooter complemented by an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide and a 2 MP (f/2.4) macro shooter. From the spec, the F5 has been geared to be a performance-oriented device and as such, users will be getting the same camera hardware from the Poco F4.
It's not necessarily a bad thing as the camera can shoot decent images in broad daylight. The colours look crisp with great details and dynamic range. The lack of a depth sensor means the portrait mode will be a hit or miss at times.
The low-light performance of the F5 is also satisfactory. The videography on the F5 is a bit choppy on 4K as there is no EIS.
There’s also a 16 MP (f/2.5) selfie shooter at the front. Compared to the Nothing Phone 1, the camera experience on the F5 falls short slightly. It's not a deal breaker, but if camera is the priority, then there are better options out there at this price point.

Asus ROG Strix G16 Review: Is it a value for money gaming laptop?
The world of gaming laptops is complicated. It's never easy to find the perfect balance between the price, performance, and portability of a laptop in a single product. But since performance is the ultimate goal of a gaming laptop, price and portability seem to always take a back seat. The Asus ROG Strix G16 is here to disrupt that age-old notion. While it's not a small laptop by any means, it seems to have figured out a formula that works for a rational price range (by gaming laptop standards). Let’s have a detailed look.
Key Specifications of Asus ROG Strix G16
Design
The Asus ROG Strix G16 comes in 12 different configurations out of the box. That is a lot to take in even for hardcore gamers. For the sake of simplicity, this review uses the standard G614JI-N4175X model. This unit has specs that can be considered right in the middle of the lot.
The design of all the units is exactly the same with size and internal configurations differing in each model. By the external looks, the design principle from the G15 of last year has been carried on to the G16. The hinge has been staggered below onto the base in a typical ROG design. The back hinge has been updated with a new grill.
Read more: Best MacBooks in Bangladesh: Which Apple Laptop Should You Buy?
Speaking of grills, there seems to be no end to them. The ROG Strix 16 has an aluminum top, a plastic body, and a hard plastic base. The sides and the base have been crisscrossed with air vents in all types of different designs. This has been done to let the hot air pass from the CPU and keep the laptop cool. The G16 has an intelligent noiseless cooling system but more on that later.
The aluminum top of G16 has some aggressive ROG branding which may not be to everyone’s preference. The Scars model, which is a much higher-tier variant of the G16 has a more toned-down back with the Aura Sync ROG eye logo. The standard model doesn’t have the Aura Sync on the logo.
There is a white bar along the front edge of the laptop. This time Asus has included RGB lighting for the device on the edges which gives it a quite futuristic look.

The choice of ports on the G16 is abundant. All of the ports are placed on the right of the laptop. There is the power port, RJ45 LAN, HDMI 2.1, and two USB 3.2 with one being a Thunderbolt one for PD support and a headphone jack. The HDMI port will be able to project up to 4K at 120 fps max on an external display.
IPS Buyer's Guide with Price Ranges in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, where frequent power outages or load shedding are common, having a reliable backup power solution is crucial. This is where an IPS (Instant Power Supply) or Home UPS comes into play. An IPS provides uninterrupted power to essential appliances and devices during power cuts, ensuring that crucial tasks can be carried out without interruption.
Whether it's running important medical equipment, operating computers, or simply keeping the lights on, an IPS is a necessity for households, offices, and businesses alike. Let’s explore the different types of IPS systems available in Bangladesh under various price ranges.
Things to Consider When Buying an IPS or Home UPS
When rushing to buy, customers often fall prey to the persuasive tactics employed by sellers, leading them to make ill-informed choices. To avoid such pitfalls, here are a few crucial factors to consider when purchasing an IPS/UPS system.
Terms and Works
It's important to understand the distinction between IPS and UPS. While both supply power during a mains power failure, UPS seamlessly switches the connection without any noticeable power drop, whereas IPS requires a minimum of one second or more to switch. Nowadays, most IPS systems come equipped with UPS functionality, allowing them to function interchangeably.

Types
When it comes to UPS systems, there are two types to choose from: online and offline. Offline UPS systems are more affordable but are better suited for short power outages. On the other hand, online UPS systems tend to be more stable and reliable, and the higher the price, the better the quality you can expect.
Power Coverage
Before making a purchase, it's crucial to calculate the power requirements of your devices and the number of connected devices. The IPS/UPS system may not perform optimally if the demand exceeds the supply. You can determine the wattage of each device by checking the information stamped on the appliance itself.
Warranty
Warranty is vital, as the lifespan of an IPS/UPS system is typically determined by the battery's longevity. Batteries usually last around two to three years, so it's important to check the warranty coverage provided.

Price
Price is undoubtedly a significant factor while choosing an IPS/UPS system. As a result, prospective buyers must exercise caution and consider their options carefully, as it represents a significant investment.
Selecting the right IPS/UPS system depends on identifying and aligning the essential features with your specific needs and budget. A clear understanding of what one is looking for will simplify one’s decision-making.

OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G Review: What’s special about it?
OnePlus Technology, the subsidiary of OPPO, has steadily expanded to include midrange and budget devices in its product line. The Nord CE series were the perfect mid-range with the Lite being their budget offering. This year, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G was released on April 11 2023 in China with a subsequent global release. The CE 3 Lite successes the CE 2 Lite with some interesting developments. Let’s have a look.
Key Features of OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite
Design and Build Quality
The OnePlus Nord CE 3 is a through-and-through budget device. The build material may reflect on that but rest assured, the CE 3 Lite is a well-built hefty device at 195 gm. The phone has a glass front, plastic frame, and back with a glossy finish to emulate the glass-back design. The front glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Nord CE 3 Lite moves away from the design elements of its predecessor, the CE 2 Lite. Instead of dual tone back with a separate camera housing, users will be getting a flush glossy back with two protruding camera sensors, much like the iPhone 12.

However, the quirk is somewhere else. Users would be surprised to see that even though there are two camera cutouts on the back, the official spec sheet mentions triple camera setup. That is because one of the camera cutouts, specifically the bottom one, houses two camera sensors. It’s a unique design choice that helps to keep things minimal at the back.
Coming to ports and buttons, the volume rocker and the sim tray are situated on the left of the device with the power button being on the right. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner on the Nord CE 3 Lite.
Being a budget device, the headphone jack is also present on the CE 3 Lite, right beside the Type C charging port. A single-firing speaker also finds its place at the bottom. The top of the device is flush with just the secondary noise cancellation mic for better call clarity.

Overall, the design is a slight move towards minimalism from the CE 2 Lite. Whether that is a good thing or bad remains subjective.
Display
The display on the Nord CE 3 Lite is an IPS LCD one. The choice of LCD panel is understandable given the budget it comes at. However, the lack of an AMOLED panel is somewhat made up by the 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. The panel boasts around 550 nits of typical brightness with 680 nits of HBM. Though these aren’t industry-leading stats in any way, it's still decent for its price.
Speaking of quality, the panel is exactly as you’d expect LCDs to be. The blacks aren’t deep black and there are some color shifts in extreme angles. Other than that, the smooth scrolling and accurate color recreation make for a compelling and interactive experience.

Camera
The Nord CE 3 Lite features three cameras on the back. The main camera is a whooping 108 MP one with the complementing two sensors being a 2 MP macro and depth sensor. It’s clear that the 108 MP sensor is the key player here as it will be doing all the heavy lifting.
Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition: Enter the Magical Wizarding World
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 12 Turbo edition was released on March 28, 2023 in Mainland China. On the same day, Redmi also released a Harry Potter Special limited-edition version. Let’s check out what the Harry Potter fans will get in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition.
Key Features of Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition
Design
Much of the specialty of this edition has to do with the unboxing experience itself. Users would get a chunky box with the special edition, much like those large magic spell books seen in the movie.
Opening the fold, users will be greeted with the iconic Hogwarts acceptance letter received by Harry. It’s the same as the original complete with wax sealing. The included SIM ejector tool has been branded with the nine-three quarter sign and the user manual is designed just like the Marauder’s map. It's these little things that make the unboxing experience such a magical one.
Moving onto other stuff, users will be getting a charging brick, cable, and a designer case with faux leather finishing. There are also some classic Harry Potter stickers for the geeks.

Now let’s talk about the device itself. Dimension wise the device is exactly the same as Redmi Note 12 Turbo. But the magic is happening at the back. There’s a lot to take in from the centaur, sorting hat, Quidditch game, quill to the broom, and of course, the ever-magical Hogwarts logo. The motto of the school, “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus” is printed brightly on the emblem. And if it ever crossed as to what it means, it stands for “Do not tickle the sleeping dragon”.
There is also the Redmi special edition branding on the bottom and the Harry Potter typography at the top. The camera sensors have been cheekily designed to represent Harry’s spectacles complete with his lightning scar.
Overall, the design and the unboxing experience of the Harry Potter special edition will be absolutely magical, to say the least. For any Potterhead or a general enthusiast, this device would definitely be a collectible piece worth admiring.
The Display
The display on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is a 1080P OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support. As mentioned earlier, there is no dimension or spec difference between the special edition and the regular version of the Note 12 Turbo. So enthusiasts will also be getting the same specs.

The panel itself is decent. It has that typical Xiaomi warm tone to it which can easily be calibrated from the display settings. The viewing angles are pretty good and the high refresh rate makes it a delight to interact with. Overall, the display is easily one of the strong features of the Note 12 Turbo.
The Camera
The goggle-designed camera on the Note 12 Turbo special edition actually has three lenses. The main camera is a 64 MP wide-angle shooter with an 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro shooter. It's clear from the spec that the main camera will be doing all the heavy lifting.
Best MacBooks in Bangladesh: Which Apple Laptop Should You Buy?
Compared to PCs, the world of laptops seems to be far more diverse and full of options. When it comes to high-performance, durability, and portability, MacBooks are a step ahead of all other competitors. Based on Apple’s proprietary macOS, MacBooks bring a lot to the table, including some caveats. Let’s explore the world of MacBooks and see which one might just be the right one for you.
Choosing the Right MacBook: What to Consider?
MacBook models are limited to either Air or Pro. But it’s easy to guess the internal spec dimensions considering the price difference between an entry-level MacBook Air and a maxed-out MacBook Pro. While an entry-level M1 MacBook Air Costs 999 USD, a maxed-out MacBook Pro will set back the user an eye-watering 6,499 USD. So before jumping for a model, it's important to understand what should be the buying criteria for MacBooks.
Performance
In general, MacBooks are always known for their efficient and reliable performance thanks to the highly optimized hardware and macOS. With the addition of the Apple silicone M1, the efficiency and performance took a staggering jump, leaving competitions miles back.
So for most people, the entry-level MacBook Air would be more than enough. But for professionals, there are specialized features in different MacBook models. It’ll be discussed in detail in the latter part.
Read More: Laptop Buyer’s Guide: How to choose the right one
Price
The price of a MacBook varies substantially. Each new feature from the preceding model or the base model will have a slight price increment. It might get a bit confusing. But the best approach would be to fix a certain budget and performance parameter first and then look for the models that best match the plan.
Battery Life
Ever since Apple made the switch to M1, the battery life has significantly increased, not that the MacBook had a bad battery before. An entry-level MacBook Air will easily last 8 to 12 hours of continued use. Larger and Pro models will have an even better battery life.
Screen Size
Speaking of large, MacBook usually comes in either 13-inch, 14-inch, or 16-inch displays. Each incremental screen size brings better display tech with the highest ones reserved for the 16-inch Pro models. For compact users, the 13-inch models can be an easy choice. But for professionals, the 14 or 16-inch might be the one to go for.
Upgradability
Lastly, consider whether there is any need for regular upgrades. MacBooks are highly reliable machines with top-notch performance, even if they become a few years old. The new gen M2 processors are so far ahead that even 2 or 3 years down the line, the performance difference with the competition will be hard to notice. So rather than thinking of MacBooks as just another laptop, think of them as an investment.
