"Artists have no geographical boundary. Their works carry powerful expressions," he said while inaugurating a joint exhibition of Bangladesh and Sri Lankan artists in the city.
Dr Momen said they want to inculcate the mindset of tolerance and respect for each other and then hoped to achieve a sustainable world of peace and stability.
"We should have a leadership role in promoting the mindset of tolerance and respect for each other," he added.
The Foreign Minister hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be strengthened further through stronger people-to-people contact between the two countries.
Society for Promotion of Arts Bangladesh Arts is hosting the exhibition at National Museum Gallery.
A total of 72 artworks of 18 artists from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have been put on display.
The exhibition, dedicated to Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will continue till February 28.
State Minister for Culture Affairs KM Khalid, artists Hashem Khan and Shahabuddin Ahmed, Square Group Director Anjan Chowdhury and diplomats were present.
