Tributes were paid to the memory of Bangamata marking her 89th birth anniversary. To mark the occasion, an informal programme was organised at the mission’s Bangabandhu auditorium.
At the discussion, Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Deputy Permanent Representative of the mission, read out a message of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said a press release.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen highlighted various aspects of the life and works of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and her significant role in building the country and the nation.
“The ideal of Bangamata will be a source of inspiration for the Bengali women in the days ahead,” he said.
After the discussion, special prayers were offered for the salvation of the departed souls, including Bangabandhu and his family members who were assassinated on August 15, 1975.
Prayers were also offered for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the nation.
