Twelve more Covid-19-related deaths were reported during the period, putting the mortality rate at 1.53%, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily percentage of people testing positive for the virus surged past 5% a few days back after a month of downtrend. The infection rate stood at 6.26% on Saturday after a slight fall from 6.62% on Friday.

However, the country's daily Covid-19 cases stayed below the 1,000-mark before Wednesday when the daily Covid-19 cases rose to 1,018.
Before that, a daily caseload of above 1,000-mark – 1,071 cases – were recorded on January 10.
With the new numbers, the death toll went up to 8,527 and total infections to 556,236, the DGHS said.
However, 1,138 people recovered from Covid-19 during the same period.
So far, 510,310 patients – 91.74% – have recovered in the country since the first cases were reported on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 in the same year.
The country’s health authorities have so far tested 4,248,345 samples, including 16,206 in the past 24 hours.
Vaccination drive in Bangladesh
Bangladesh launched its nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive on February 7.
By Thursday, 4,218,127 people received the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. The second dose has to be taken between 8 and 12 weeks of the first one.
The government is providing the vaccine for free. It signed an agreement with India's Serum Institute for acquiring 30 million doses of the vaccine.
The institute will provide 5 million doses every month between January and June.

Those who are 40 or above can register for getting the jab at www.surokkha.gov.bd as the on-spot registration system has been revoked.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said the age limit for getting the vaccine would be revised once more doses are available in the country.
Global Covid-19 Situation
The total number of global Covid-19 cases topped 119 million on Saturday amid concern of new virus strains, increasing pressure on nations to speed up the vaccination process.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the current total global caseload and fatalities stand at 119,115,504 and 2,640,657.
The US has recorded 29,347,339 cases while about 532,592 people have died in the country since the pandemic began a year ago.
Brazil has the second-highest number of Covid-19 deaths and cases, behind the US. The country registered 11,363,380 cases while its death toll from the virus has mounted to 275,105 until early Saturday.
Meanwhile, India's total case count and deaths stood at 11,333,728 and 158,446 deaths.
India holds the third position in terms of cases in the world and 4th position in terms of deaths, Johns Hopkins data.
