A Bangladeshi was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force along Paria border in Baliadangi upazila on early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sabul Islam, 46, son of Ramij Uddin of Amzankhor in the upazila.
Subedar Altaf Hossain, company commander of BGB Paria camp, said the incident took place in early hours when Sabul along with some others were trying to trespass into India.
BSF members opened fire on them near pillar no-387, leaving Sabul dead on the spot, he said, adding that they sat in a flag meeting with BSF in the afternoon and asked them to handover the body.
Mohammad Moniruzzaman, superintendent of Thakurgaon Police, confirmed the information.
