Dhaka, Nov 16 (UNB) – Mentioning that a cent percent fair election is held nowhere in the world, Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam on Friday said it is not possible in Bangladesh, too.
“We don’t want to arrange such an election for which we’ve to answer to people all the time. But cent percent election is held nowhere in the world. It’ won’t happen in Bangladesh either,” she said.
The election commissioner was addressing the assistant returning officers of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area at noon ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections.
She said they want to hold an acceptable election which will remain above any question.
Mentioning that an election mood is prevailing in the country, Kabita Khanam asked the election officials to ensure so that it is not spoiled.
She said it is a very tough task to hold the election fairly and directed the assistant returning officers to behave well with all to accomplish the job.
The election commissioner also sought cooperation of all, saying it is not the responsibility of the Election Commission alone to arrange a free and fair election.
