The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Sunday donated an ambulance to Al-Rashid Foundation to help impoverished patients amidst the coronavirus outbreak situation and to safeguard last rites.
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim handed over the ambulance to the founder of Al-Rashid Foundation Shahadat Hossain Taslim, also president of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB).
“We need concerted efforts to deal with coronavirus. We thank the Al-Rashid Foundation for standing by the people during this emergency. We are honoured to be with the foundation,” said the FBCCI president at the function.
Thanking the FBCCI for the donation, the chairman of the foundation said, "Our volunteers are ready all the time to provide emergency services and complete last rites.”
The Al Rashid Foundation, a voluntary organisation, is arranging funeral of COVID-19 victims. There are 33 volunteers --30 men and Three women—under the organisation, who stand by the people risking their lives out of human responsibility amid this pandemic situation.
So far the foundation has completed the burial of about 300 dead. Al-Rashid Foundation is among four voluntary organisations approved by the government to bury the deceased.
Al Rashid Foundation provides free services in the capital, said a FBCCI release.
FBCCI vice-president Nizamuddin Rajesh, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, director Sujib Ranjan Das and leaders of both the organisations were present on the occasion.
