Munshiganj, Oct 7 (UNB) – The ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route which remained suspended for the last three days due to poor navigability in the Padma River under Lauhajang upazila resumed on Saturday on a limited sacle.
Three ferries left Shimulia Ghat to different destinations while two others Kathalbari ghat at 11:30 am.
“A limited number of ferries started for their destinations on experimental basis,” said Syed Shah Barkatulla, BIWTC General Manager of Shimulia Ferry Ghat.
“Dredging work to widen the ferry channel and improve the navigability on the route has been completed but it will more time to ensure smooth movement of the ferries as the dredging pipes and boyas have not yet removed from the channel,” he said.
