"The Language Movement not only established our right to mother tongue but also added a new dimension to the literature and culture, including story, drama and film. I hope intellectuals, including directors, filmmakers, writers and researchers, will have to work more on the Language Movement to spread its history and tradition everywhere," he said.
He made the call while opening the special premier show of movie 'Fagun Haway- In the Spring Breeze', which was produced based on the 1952 Language Movement, at Bangabhaban.
Describing the Language Movement as a memorable moment in national history, the President said, “It’s a movement to protect the own nationality, individuality and cultural diversity alongside establishing right to the mother tongue. The unending spirit of Amar Ekushey provided the inspiration and courage for the rights of people, struggle for independence and the Liberation War. We gained the long-cherished independence under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through this spirit."
He said the movie, 'Fagun Haway- In the Spring Breeze, will play a vital role in spreading the history of those contributed to the Language Movement and establishment of right to mother tongue. "The new generation will be imbued with patriotism while the Liberation War spirit will be heightened with the theme of the movie."
Terming the sacrifice for the language a rare incident in the world, Hamid said, "Today, the spirit of Amar Ekushey is the source of inspiration for protecting the mother tongue and own culture around the world. I hope this spirit will help establish a bridge among different language speakers, revive the extinct languages, and present a world of cultural diversity. "
The President along with his family members enjoyed actor-turned director Tauquir Ahmed’s new film ‘Fagun Haway – In Spring Breeze’.
Managing director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagar, its director and head of news Shykh Siraj, members of the Board of Directors of Impress Telefilm and invited guests attended the inaugural programme.
Secretaries to the President were also present during the film show.
The movie was also released in theatres on Friday in 52 cinema halls.
The movie is being distributed by Ovi Kothachitra.
The film’s poster has been opened by Bipasha Hayat and Amin Khan in presence of all artists of the movie. The trailer and songs were released last year.
Actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha plays the lead role with newcomer Siam. Renowned actors Abul Hayat, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Roonak Hasan, Faruque Ahmed, Saju Khadem and Shahadat Hossain are also part of the movie.
The film is produced by Impress Telefilm and inspired by Tito Rahman’s ‘Bau Kotha Kao’ short story based on the Language Movement.
Tauquir made his directorial debut with ‘Joyjatra’, a 2004 film based on the Liberation War.
