Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) on Tuesday demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the miscreants who attacked journalists during the Dhaka city polls on Saturday.
They made the demand at a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club where Rangpur Division Journalists’ Association also took part.
The DUJ leaders also said they will submit a memorandum to the Home Ministry on Sunday if their demand is not met by the time.
DUJ President Abu Zafar Surja said the attackers must be brought to book immediately.
He also threatened to launch a tougher movement if their demand is not met.
On Saturday, three journalists were injured in separate attacks reportedly by ruling party men while covering the elections to Dhaka north and South city corporations.
