The Minister came up with the allegation while Inaugurating Corona Unit at Imperial Hospital in Chattogram.
During BNP-Jamaat regime, on August 17, 2005, militancy spread its wings across the country and they committed series bomb blasts in 63 districts simultaneously exhibiting their strength, Mahmud said.
Those who were behind the bomb blast still exist in the BNP Alliance, he said, adding that it was possible to eradicate militancy if they were not patronized politically.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown highest success in repressing the militancy compared to many countries”, the minister stated.
“We are not claiming to have eradicated militancy completely but we have repressed it,” he said.
Stating that half of hospital beds are vacant in Chattogram, Mahmud said Dhaka also has same scenario as Bangladesh has controlled the infection and has much lower death rate "compared to India or Pakistan even Europe".
