She made the demand while delivering the valedictory speech in the fourth session of the 11th parliament.
Drawing the attention of the Prime Minister, Raushon said, “The ruling party chief whip gets the status of a minister while the whips that of a state minister. The opposition has also a chief whip and whips without any status. How will they work without any status?”
She urged the government to strengthen economic diplomacy to turn the country into a higher middle-income one by maintaining the continued economic growth.
The Opposition Leader said the diplomats in all the Bangladesh missions abroad need to work for expanding export markets of local products through intensifying the economic diplomacy.
About the Rohingya crisis, she said the country will face many troubles if the Rohingyas cannot be sent to their own country Myanmar soon. “Rohingyas can in no way be kept in Bangladesh while the financial assistance for the international organisations has got reduced. The government will have to take the full responsibility of the Rohingyas after a few days.”
Besides, she voiced concern that Rohingyas are spreading drugs and going abroad with Bangladeshi passports.
Raushon urged the government to take steps so that Bangladeshi expatriates are not harassed at airports. “Necessary measures should also be taken to ensure sending remittances through legal channels by the migrant workers. The interest of Bangladeshi workers working abroad must be protected, and new labour markets will have to be explored.”
About the recent outbreak of dengue, she said the Health Ministry must take proper steps to prevent the mosquito-borne diseases while people will also have to play a positive role in this regard.
